parts needed for keyless entry??

I have a 1997 5th gen and i found a 5th gen breaking that has keyless entry.

What would I need to get from it to give my car keyless entry??

At the minute I have central locking, it only works from the drivers door.

Thanks :)

Re: parts needed for keyless entry??

first you need power locks and the you need an alarm that can lock/unlock the doors!

Re: parts needed for keyless entry??

OK incase people don't understand. I have found a car that is for breaking that has keyless entry. It has all the parts that I require for keyless entry, but I don't know which parts I need.

So I am asking if someone can tell me the parts that are needed. I don't have access to the car so I need to tell the owner so they can take the parts and send me them to me.

Re: parts needed for keyless entry??

you'll need the right side body harness, the keyless entry module located behind the drivers side rear interior panel, the antenna wire that goes to the rear glass from the keyless module, the key fobs, and the rear glass if i'm not mistaken. these parts must be removed from a 99 or later lude. i've been looking at doing this mod as well, and it's a small nightmare if you have a '97 or'98 lude. good luck.

forgot to ad that if you have an SH, you'll need to get the harness out of another SH. reason being is that the right side body harness also includes the wires going to the yaw rate sensor mounted behind the rear seat. you'll also have to change the pin out and plug on the end of the new harness to fit to your yaw rate sensor, or install the 99-01 yaw rate sensor as the 97-98 has a 3 pin connector and the 99-01 has a 4 pin connector. hope this helps.

you'd probably be better off just buying the factory alarm system for the car. it'll be cheaper in the long run anyway.
