Icon5 Couple of Q's from n00b!!!

1. How can you tell if your trans has a LSD in it without taking ur car out for a spin and make tightest turns possible? Can you check for the LSD visually?
2. My car is a 2001 SH with a 1998 base engine and trans (rebuilt engine and low miles trans), are engines from 98-01 the same or do they have differences?
3. Which is better, a SH trans (not talking about ATTS) or base model trans?
4. Regular manual trans in Prelude doesn't need coolant lines from radiator like the SH trans rite?

Thank you!!!

Oops, forgot to add that the last owner said he put in the LSD (it isn't the SH trans anymore, it's the base model trans) but I don't trust anyeffin'body so I asked.

the tranny and the motor in both types of cars are the same.

They should be both the same transmissions the atts doesnt affect the transmission

4. Regular manual trans in Prelude doesn't need coolant lines from radiator like the SH trans rite?

not true.

Thank you!!!

not a single thing you said was correct!

1: the tranny's and engines are NOT the same for the SH's and base's. ATTS is PART of the transmission, so how in your right mind can you think they're the same?!?!?

2: the ATTS doesn't affect the transmission!?!??!!? wtttffff

3: hows that not true? only ATTS tranny's have coolant lines. no other manual trans' have any coolant lines.

any other misinformation you'd like to spread??

Re: Couple of Q's from n00b!!!

1. How can you tell if your trans has a LSD in it without taking ur car out for a spin and make tightest turns possible? Can you check for the LSD visually?

The code on the tranny right around the starter area. I don't know all the codes off the top of my head, but search for them. That can tell you if you have a true LSD or not.

2. My car is a 2001 SH with a 1998 base engine and trans (rebuilt engine and low miles trans), are engines from 98-01 the same or do they have differences?

Technically, they're both H22A4 but the SH has the oil filter in a different location. As far as specs though, they're the same.

3. Which is better, a SH trans (not talking about ATTS) or base model trans?

Depends on what you want from the car. If you just want good handling and don't plan to mod the car much, the the SH is better. If you want to boost or do a lot of internal work, then the base is better.

4. Regular manual trans in Prelude doesn't need coolant lines from radiator like the SH trans rite?

Right.

Re: Couple of Q's from n00b!!!

I really don't understand where people come up with such epic failures like "orbslude".

Either you have to be sure enough in your own mind to come out and say what you "know" to be the answer, and were somehow misguided in a manner that only speaks to your stupidity anyway.

...or have no ****ing idea what your talking about and pretend you do anyway. But how could one commit to the second scenario knowing what kind of community this is, and knowing that how many of it's members definitely DO know what they're talking about.

that's the second person in a few weeks that's basically banned out of embarrassment. i think it should count towards his total hammer slams for the year if that member doesn't post after a certain amount of time.

Though if the previous owner fitted an LSD then the code won't tell him anything.
