Is my clutch slipping?

Is it time to change to a new clutch?

I feel that when i shift really fast from 1st to second the car lags in the rpm. I used to even chirp 3rd when i first got it. Now i cant even chirp second. wtf? Its on a stock clutch I believe and now it has 158k miles in the odometer. Many say that it can be the master cylinder or something like that

I wouldnt mind getting a new clutch but rite now im almost unemplyed (minimum wage with like 10 hrs a week) so i dont wanna get it if i dont really need it. Feel me?

Re: Is my clutch slipping?

to test whether its slipping...

get to about 45-50mph, and put it in 5th, and SLAM on the gas. if it revs wayyyyy up, time for a new clutch.

Re: Is my clutch slipping?

i know i dont need a new clutch but is it just time and wear that causes you not to have the power and the grab needed to chirp the wheels?

Re: Is my clutch slipping?

yeah i was figuring that since i dont chirp the wheels, that my clutch isnt transfrering power to the wheels

Re: Is my clutch slipping?

it only happens at redline. Not like i go at redline everytime but its the sometimes that i do that it seems to lag when i shift. Like the car doesnt want to take power imediately after you dump the clutch

Re: Is my clutch slipping?

luvelude... I'm one of those people who believes if my car acts a curtain way and it stops, then I need to get it back to the way it was or better.

but do the 50mph test. it's the ultimate tester.
