aftermarket headlight bulbs won't work :S

Has anyone else experienced this? I can slip in my old oem bulbs and those work fine, but when i put in aftermarket bulbs no go. It's not the bulbs because I have bought 3 sets already ... do you think i need a new socket/bulb holder?

Re: aftermarket headlight bulbs won't work :S

Well if the stock bulbs work then it's not the socket or wiring.

Do the aftermarket ones not work, or do they blow instantly?

I had a similar problem, I would fit an a/m bulb, and within 6 weeks I'd blown both. After three sets of these I refitted the standard bulbs and have got another 2.5 years out of them to date. Maybe you're just buying shiit bulbs.

it definitely sounds like you have the wrong bulbs. Make sure they're correct.

It you struggle to put the bulb in for a split second, then its the wrong kind.

did you buy the socket that is designed to handle higher watts instead of the oem bulb socket that will burn with "aftermarket" bulbs

i used the oem socket, the bulbs i bought were 50w so it shouldn't burn. I noticed that the bulbs wiggle a lot in the socket, and only turn on when pushed to one side. I guess they're just cheap flea bay bulbs.. I managed to get one working properly though :P
