Icon9 My Lude wont start...

Hey guys Iím having a serious problem. My lude just wonít start. On sat I was driving the car and i was running low on oil, luckily I had a quart in my car. So I poured it in and drove to the nearest gas station and I check my dip stick and it was bone dry. I put 4 quarts of oil in it and I was on my way. I drove about 7 miles and my oil light came back on, pulled over and check the dip stick and it was dry again. So i put 4 more quarts of oil and made it home. Woke up the next morning was looking around and there was oil all over the place. I called a buddy of mine thatís a mechanic and told him what was going on. so we took of the valve cover off to see more of less where it was coming from and we got nothing, we took the front covers off and we noticed that one of the seals was popped half way out. We turned on the car for about 5 seconds to make sure the leak was from this seal, and it was... i got all my seals done about 3 month ago and some mechanic shop and is pretty obvious that the guy did a ****ty job cause it looked like he didnít put that seal all the way in the way in, the way he was suppose. So we fixed the seal and we put back the valve cover and now my car wonít start. i had a similar problem before and it was the main really underneath the dash board by the pedal, replaced it and car started right up. Iím really frustrated right now cause my car wonít start. it cranks but it just wonít start. we pushed it in a strait away and it turned on but it shuts down under 4000 rpms. the only way it stayed running is only above 4000 pms and it runs really ****ty. i did a bit of research and I read somewhere that it might be the gas pump but, I donít think it is the gas pump because I can smell gas when i try to turn it on. But I could be wrong so it could be gas pump. Please help...

Re: My Lude wont start...

we you turn your key to the on position, do you hear a faint humming noise coming from your trunk? if you do than that is the pump coming on. check to make sure you have spark on start up. so which seals did you replace? did you ever have the timing belt off?

Re: My Lude wont start...

like he said listen for the fuel pump. if u hear it than check your fuel filter there should be 2 different ones i know there is on my car one in the engine bay and one on the fuel line under the car. if they are good check your plugs u might have fouled them out.

Re: My Lude wont start...

Hey guys this is euddys mechanic. Here's the scoop; car runs fine above 4000 rpms. It floods out below. The car has spark, fuel, correct timing, good compression, good fuel pressure, and unrestricted exhaust and intake. The car dumps fuel while cranking and running at low rpms. Consequently the car will not below 3000 due to this problem. This car dumps a Huge amount of fuel from all injectors. The injectors do not leak when the fuel system is pressurized, and they seem to be pulsating equally. Which leads me to believe a sensor of some sort is sending a faulty reading to the ecm. He has been complaining for some time that the car has been getting bad gas mileage, so I think that here has been a bad sensor for a while which may have gotten worse but is not bad enough to trip a code. Any insight on this situation would help.

Re: My Lude wont start...

could it be the map sensor or another sensor? it might be reading the air fuel mix wrong and trying to add more fuel to compensate for it thinking its getting more air than it really is. if thats not it check the injection system something might have some how reprogrammed.

Re: My Lude wont start...

Hey guys, for what is worth at this point i found the problem. there was a 6 teeth between the 2 markings on the cam gears. my guess was dew to the oil leek from the seal it got on the timing belt and i guess caused it to skip while i was driving it back home or it skipped even more when we pushed started on the street into first gear. thanks for all your help.
