Re: K20 in 97 lude ??

its been done, i posted a link a year ago with a lude with a k20. (no one on this site tho)

imo NOT worth it, lots of fabrication, motor mounts are better off going custom because the ones being produced are in the same price as custom.

it messes up your weight distribution, and for the money you might as well go boosted, if you want something a little more, boost your stock engine to a minimal degree.

and it would probably come out less then a k swap!

Re: K20 in 97 lude ??

ive seen it done in tonz of civics and one of my friends had a 3rd gen with a k24a4 so if that will fit im sure a k20 will work. the only real difficulty u might run into besides change motor mounts is getting the right length cv axles. remember measure twice. make sure there is plenty of clearance also u dont want your cv axle rubbing your wishbone that can lead to serious problems.

That engine is more responsive to mods but it's not worth it IMO

You can spend less money and make the H faster

Re: K20 in 97 lude ??

Whether or not it will be worth it depends on what you want to do. There are a lot of off the shelf parts for the K, which make it a very easy engine to mod and make great power out of, and def more so that the H. However to get the K to fit you need to basically start again. Hasport make mounts, but I'm not sure on the pricing. You'll need the obvious stuff (engine, gearbox, ecu, etc) but you'll also need things like drive shafts that usually get forgotten. Intake, header and all other pipework will have to be custom, as will any mounts to things like air conditioning or cruise control.

If you plan on building a ballistic rocket, then yes it can be done, and it would easily be worth it. However if you don't, then I can't see how it would be worth it.

But if you want to do it, all you need to know is taht yes it can be done, and it has been done before. And you need to post up pics of your progress.

Re: K20 in 97 lude ??

hmm...i thought about this before. If you're gonna swap a rsx-s K20 then its not worth it. BUT if its a JDM K20 from a Honda Integra then it might be different. K20 also have less torque than H22. I have never heard about a K20 lude before. But I know some people who have a K20 Integra and they won 2nd place for something like "best engineering" at HIN Minneapolis about 2 years ago.

Re: K20 in 97 lude ??

senate111 i think the name was on preludeonline.com has a build thread on this. its a shame he totaled his lude after everything was done. put it this way. you can put a jdm h22 swap for half the price. have more horsepower and lsd transmission. like everyone is saying... if your trying to make the lude faster, k swap is not worth it.

Re: K20 in 97 lude ??

The K-series is not overrated it's just not very cost effective yet. If you're thinking of doing a K-Series do the K24 block with the K20 head. More power sooner more torque at all rpm's, better gas mileage and lower emissions (if you care about that). There's a reason that Honda makes new engines, they're better then the ones they made before.
