Icon5 Burning oil like crazy.. need help please!!

I have a 1999 Base lude and it's burning oil like crazy right now..
As soon as I go pass 3500 RPM I can see black smoke coming out of the exhaust.. I first though it was the seal for the valve since it was burning more oil in the Vtec zone.. but a guy at the shop said that if it would be the valve seal's that it would only burn oil when you start up the car..

He also said that the sympton I have look more like my car would need some piston ring's..

What do you guy think would I need piston ring or valve seal's? or maybe both?

Anything might help!

Thanks!

In my opinion i would change both, even though it would cost more, you would end up taking care of two things at one time.....but in my opinion it would be the piston rings, becuase it starts burnign the oil at higher rpms, which would be letting the oil into the chamber during intake stroke

In my opinion u might as well get a new h22a because you cant be sure if its the piston ring, seal, or valves, or if its scored.........u can try though, but in the end you might end up paying more changing thigns to find out that in the end it cant be fixed then if u bought a new motor
