going to do a 5speed swap

ok so i went to the tranny shop that i got mine done 2 years ago and they told me that i have no four gear. so i told them ok it should be under warranty i had to pay 3200 , they told me that i only payed for a 1 year 12,000 mile warranty. i was a little pissed.so now i told them i just got it done two years a go and i only have a 20,000 on it. I told them why would i not have 4th gear...they told me that i there was nothing they could do and i would have to rebuild the tranny. its going to cost 3200. so now in the past two year i might have to spend 6400. SO I'am going to do 5 speed swap. i found a lude near me that was hit in the rear. i am going to try to buy it for 1000.

I wanted to know if i they do sell it to me. how hard is it to do the swap. how long does it take and is there anyone near Rhode Island that could help out with this....

wow.. 3200.. that sucks man.. i did the swap for around 1700 and that is including some upgrades that aren't totally needed.. like a set of pimp innovative motor mounts and getting a nice clutch kit and flywheel that technically you could spend less on..

this is by far the best link that will help you get all the pieces you need

http://www.preludepower.com/forums/s....php?p=1984839

there are many people on here that have done the swap.. i did it the easy way since i swapped in a new engine with it.. honestly even if you don't swap the engine it will make running the clutch line and drilling the hole for the master cylinder a lot easier with no engine in the bay.

Good luck

Adding to that, DIstant has done the swap, so is a bit of an authority on the issue.

600?? get that in writing before they start the work.. sounds like a good deal.. my car is modded already so i ran into some bumps and setbacks that only cost me time to wait for random parts.. but in shop speak that would be more money for them to charge later..

Re: going to do a 5speed swap

This is the best swap thread I've seen so far.
