Engine rebuild. yay...

For those of you that haven't seen my thread in the New Members section, My girl and I just bought a '97 Base 5-speed. 166k miles but basically immaculate and an outstanding service history. Anyway, noticed a "knocking" sound this afternoon... My girl took it to a friend that's a Honda Technician. Diagnosis: Main Bearing knocking. Great... So, I've started a list. Please check it out and add what ya'll think necessary.

Timing belt
water pump
TB tensioner
oil pump
main & rod bearings
gasket kit
head bolts

Thanks in advance.
By the way, the car still runs fine. No excess oil usage, no smoke, no CELs, etc...

Re: Engine rebuild. yay...

Just rebuild. I have no interest in having to change out the ecu. My only performance mods planned are a K&N panel filter and resonator removal. Everything else was gonna be suspension, stereo, and a few cosmetic mods.

Re: Engine rebuild. yay...

No exhaust plans yet. My main idea was a dependable, sporty DD. I've got an '07 zx6r to go fast. As for the crank, hopefully it's not trashed but we'll see.

thanks bro, you also might want to look into the t-belt tensioner conversion. since the auto tensioners are know for the failure rate.
