Factory Alarm

Can someone post photos of where the factory alarm is located?

I bought a 98 prelude and the alarm was supposely removed and not the engine kill activates when i try to start it. I dont have the remote to turn it off.

Does the alarm use the factory horn or a seperate siren?

Re: Factory Alarm

The factory alarm was an option, and most cars aren't equipped with it. But it uses the horn, and needs the remote to turn it off. Removing the alarm itself won't get around the factory immobiliser either.

Re: Factory Alarm

If the alarm is removed and i purchase a replacement remote, will that disable the immobilizer?

i'm trying to avoid buying another alarm.

Re: Factory Alarm

UPDATE::

Today my lude died on me when i was idle waiting in line at a drive thru.

I don't have the red key to reprogram but the key that was sold with the car works sometimes. When i turn the car on the car turns on for about 2 seconds and then shuts off. the green light will then flash about 4-5 times and go away.

What's weird is that when i hold the key for about 3 secs when turning, the car will start fine and car will move but today the car just died on me.

Is this related to the ignition switch recall? What will honda charge me to fix this issue?
