Icon5 Main Oil Seal....do I have to buy the driver #07749-001000

I am going to do the main oil seal on my 97 Prelude as I have the tranny off and doing clutch...my car has 180k and everyone I talk to says to do the main oil seal when I have the flywheel off.

My Helm shop manual say to use the driver to seat the seal...do I have to use this driver or is there a way to get it seated right without??? If I have to use the driver, where can I buy it? PreludeZone.com ROCKS! Thanks all!

2x4 and a hammer
or something else thats as wide/wider than the seal, so that when you hit it w/ a hammer it evenly distributes the force over the entire seal so it goes in evenly and not cause any leaking.

i'm pretty sure i used a 2x4 for mine, and no leaking

no need for another thread, i closed it.

the green stuff isn't anything important, just part of the seal. the only thing you gotta do is put grease around the seal so it goes in smoothly.

Re: Main Oil Seal....do I have to buy the driver #07749-001000

Sweet, that's what I love...an answer with confidence...that green stuff was just grease! I had no idea and could not find an answer from Honda. I have the new seal and there is no grease or RTV pre-applied, now I will just throw some grease on the new seal and use a 2x4 and seat the new seal. There is a small crease for something on the new seal, grease I guess. I was worried that there was another liquid gasket that was used besides the Hondabond HT and I had to figure out what kind and get some. Thank you for your decisive answer, I am going to wake up tomorrow and throw it back together, I so want to get my car back on the road by Tuesday!!! PreludeZone.com ROCKS!!!
