engine question

So i did some testing on my engine. 1)165 2)100 3)130 4)165. These were the number for my compression. that was the dry test and on the wet the numbers didnt go up all that much. There are a few things that i am wondering the problem is. head gasket, rings, scratched cylinder walls, bad valves. any ideas? I would love the help. Thanks guys

Re: engine question

wow, those numbers aren't good at allll. which engine do you have? since your in canadia, you COULD have the F22 in there in which case your results would be slightly less worrisome. if you have an H22, then those aren't good at all.

how many miles are on the engine?

Re: engine question

a leakdown test will tell u where u are loosing that compression we cant tell u where cuz there are a number of places u could be....intake valve, exhaust valves, head gasket.

Re: engine question

Ouch bro. Dude those are really bad numbers for an h22. Optimal numbers are like 210-220. Per Cylinder.

Re: engine question

I don't know much about compression tests so I figured I will just ask here. What is a fair price to pay or is that something you can DIY?

5 bucks, at max.

if you can change your spark plugs, you can do a compression test. that's literally all it consists of.

Re: engine question

Did you warm the engine up first before the comp test? You might get lower numbers when doing the test on a cold engine. My numbers were f*ck'd up at first but after a warm up the second test revealed 185 across the board.

Re: engine question

your supposed to do it on a cold motor, before the rings and seals expand.
