Opinions please

Ok. So I know I dont post on here much at all but im alwayz on. Anyways, I waas looking to get everybody's opinions on something. I have a 98 prelude and its auto. Im still paying on the car too. I want to do a 5spd swap on it. But im debating on whether I should wait and pay the car off, then sell it and buy a 5spd lude. Or should I just go ahead and do the 5spd swap? If I wait to pay it off, it will prolly be paid off sometime around march of next year....MAYBE. But if I go the 5spd swap route, i could prolly have it done by the end of the year. Sry for the long post, Opinions anybody??????

Re: Opinions please

is there anything wrong with your car? is the trans starting to slip? if the answer to both of these questions is no, then just wait and pay your car off. then do the 5 speed swap.

Re: Opinions please

No, theres nothing wrong with it at all. I just wanted a 5spd and knew i could do the swap before i paid off the car so I was thinkin about that option. I still owe a pretty good amount on the car and im only 18 so i dont make great money. Lol.

Re: Opinions please

you should concentrate on paying your car off as quick as you can. if you can save while doing so, then sure why not. but the faster you pay it off the sooner you can turn that car payment into mods.

If I were you I would pay off the car first. Then start to look at mods, especially something such as a 5spd swap. Either that or try and sell it and then buy a 5spd with the money. Trust me, I know 1st hand how ghey the auto tranny can be. I had one until I sold it to buy another lude.

Re: Opinions please

yeah i say pay it off, and ride out that auto. when you have money for the swap then do it or ride it out till it starts slipping and then do it too.

Re: Opinions please

IMO pay it off then get a swap done. Don't sell it and get a 5 speed. You know your car and would be taking a risk on buying another one. But then again I am the sentimental lol

Re: Opinions please

what up, I've been down this road a few times. My last prelude (which I loved) was actually an auto, I couldn't take not having the 5spd, so I sold it. Just picked up my second prelude earlier this week....WHICH IS A 5SPD - I can't see continually paying (and working hard to pay) off something that you're not 100% in love with driving.

Price out the swap, if its cheap (doesn't void your warranty) and you have a knowledgeable friend to help, change her out- that way you'll still have YOUR car too.

good luck either way bud

Re: Opinions please

IMO opinion I wouldn't touch the car with mods until it's payed for. It's not really yours (the finance company owns it) So god forbid you can't pay anymore for whatever reason they come and repo it and you just spent a couple of g's on someelses car!!! Pay it off then do what your heart desires or sell it and buy the 5 speed you always wanted.

Yeah, alot of the preludes around here are either auto or they have alot of miles....well most of em anywayz. Mine has 110k miles on it. Thats pretty low compared 2 other ones I found. And I dont even run my lude hard. Im just gonna save the money and pay it off and try 2 do the swap then. And I definitely know how u feel bout the whole sentimental thing. Lol
