What Could This Be?

For some reason my check engine light keeps comin on every week or two and it stays on for about 2-3 days. The code keeps coming up as running rich bank. So why does the code keep coming on then going off? Any ideas to what this could be? Thanks

A sensor most likely, nothing big imo just means sometimes when you get on it you see **poof** Black smoke lol. Id say it could be a o2 sensor or the sensor that goes on the throttel body, but deff sounds like some emmision bs.

O2 sensor on the TB? WTF, okay I might agree about the O2 sensor but not the location. Maybe I read that wrong. Anyhow you'll have one before the CAT and after the CAT, both list as the same part # as my memory tells me, but I have been wrong before.

I would replace the O2 sensors, don't go cheap I think Denso makes one for the 5th thats not too badly priced.

Re: What Could This Be?

Yeah, your best bet would be the O2 sensor and if it happens again, it could be that you need to clean the EGR valve. I just forked out about $900 to fix my check engine light. I started with O2 sensor, then my CAT, then last but least. We had to remove the whole intake manifold and clean it thoroughly. That finally fixed my check engine light finally.
