TURBO TIME!!!

Alright so I finally decided that now is the time to turbo my 01 prelude nonSH. the problem is, is that i dont know very much about what kits are good or what products i should use to build my engine up. Everyone who knows anything or have tried something that knows will work, post it. I want to get about 400 to the wheels and I know its possible becuase i have seen it done.

thanks

Re: TURBO TIME!!!

There is a lot of info in the F.I. thread. I think Neck compiled it. Very good read with tons of info. Start there and then search. You should find anything your looking for. If you still have specific questions you should post them up but your topicis very broad and everything you're looking for is a couple clicks away. To acheive that kind of power you will need extensive block and head build as well as proper tuning and a pretty open budget. That's pretty general and like I said, searching will produce good results on your topic. Good luck and let us know your plans.

Re: TURBO TIME!!!

I'll tell you right now, your not going to make 400whp on a stock h22 and have it last. Your going to have to spend money on sleeves, pistons, rods, PINS, injectors, all kinds of stuff. Going turbo isn't cheap, and it certainly isn't an over night decision. Don't buy a turbo kit, piece your turbo build together.

Read these threads. The one thread has like 4324621 links, but a lot of them are turbo related and there is a lot of information there.

READ EVERYTHING.

Like I said to another person who posted about boosting, I've been reading up on turbo builds and stuff for almost a year, and I still don't understand everything. There is a lot to be learned, and going turbo takes some time.

^^^That thread has almost everything you need to know. Its one of the best collections of turbo/supercharger information I've seen yet. READ IT ALL.

Best of luck on your build bro. 400whp is no joke. If you don't mind my asking, what do you need 400+ for? 300whp is WAY more than enough for street use.

Preach!!!

Don't fool yourself that you are going to have some type of 400+ whp DD on a stock block with a drive it like you stole it mentality. Also, you aren't going to boost it with a lot of ebay/junkyard parts for $2,000. I HATE HACK JOB TURBO INSTALLS! There is nothing more embarrassing to see under the hood of a boosted car that looks like a rat nest.

Boost= you get what you pay for. With that being said, I'm not saying you have to spend thousands of dollars to have reliability. Built motors can blow just like a non-built motor. I have a stock block that's runs 271whp @8psi and still have ac/ps/cruise and 28mpg. I wanted to have a fast car that I could DD without real worries.

Do the research as Smokey said. Make up in your mind on what your "realistic" goals are and work from there. Good luck mate
