Help, Windshield wipers fling off my windshield =(

Its like they dont have anything stopping them a certain point anymore. When its raining my drivers side wiper constantly goes off my windsheild. Sometimes its gets stuck and i gotta roll down my window to push it back on. Not good in the pouring rain. Anyone have an idea? Is there a stopper in there that wore down? The motor? Bad Wiper assembly? I have an 98 btw.

Did you install them correctly? Go to advance auto parts or something and they'll put the blades on for free...

Re: Help, Windshield wipers fling off my windshield =(

Its not the blades. its the whole arm that goes way to far to the left. The blade is connected just fine to the arm. Its like something in the wiper assembly inside the car is broken, thus letting them swing to far, and the driver side wiper (still connected to the arm) slaps off the side of the car, and sometimes hits my driver side window, before it gets pulled back. Sorry if my first post wasnt explained right.

i knew someone that was having the same problem. i have never taken apart the windsheild wiper assembly before but a guy i knew, his lude was doin the same thing and he took off the wipers and he said it slipped to the left or something where the wipers are connected. so i guess he just put them back in the right place and that fixed the problem. but im not sure. im just throwing this our there considering ive never taken my wipers completely apart

Hmmm i wonder how hard it is to get into the assembly. I dont think i have to take the hood off to get to it. Might be easier with the hood off though. Guess ill just have to look at it when i get out of work, see how easy it is to get too.

The bolt that is holding down the wiper arm...unbolt that and then lift up the arm and resposition it back to where it's closer to the bottom of your window and then bolt it back up to test it. If that is still allowing the blade to pass your window, then you have to play around with the adjustment level of your blades from the start point.

The thing about that is the blades DO go all the way down to the bottom. I think something inside has become disconected in the assembly that controls how far it can go. Anyone know how difficult it is to get to the assembly?

Damn...then in that case your best bet is to buy a used motor at a local junkyard and swap it bc most likely the plat that connects btwn the wiper motor and the wiper arm is worn out badly or bent to push the blade beyond its usual limit on the window.

Well if its not raining after work. Ill try and get to the assembly and motor, to see if anything is disconnected or worn out. Hope its not to hard to get too.

The wind shield wiper arm was traveling to far in each direction and was banging against the car.The problem turned out to be a worn wiper arm bushing. The replacement part # is : 1-76540-SV4-003 ROD UNIT A. I would like to here if anyone else has this problem or was this problem I had just an unusual occurrence.

Thanks man! I tried getting to the assembly last night. Its not something that is really gonna be quick for me. I think if I really want to do it right, i got to take the hood off. It really gets in the way when working there. I can buy a whole new wiper assembly for 35$ or so on ebay.
