cold out.. engine turns but no fire

Well.. i've been trying to self test this problem but I can't figure it out.

I think it is my timing but you tell me.

Most of you know I just put in a JDM engine as well as 5 spd... well i did everything.. the engine was running ok.. some spuddering when i got on the gas.. but I assumed this was because of my AUTO ECU.

So after my tune.. she was running good. but recently its been getting cold at night.. dropping below freezing and what not. So in the morning.. HA.. early after noon i'd go out to start my car and nothing.. just crank crank crank.. no fire. The plugs are brand new.. the battery is brand new.. i thought it might be my alt.. but that wouldn't make sense.. my battery is fine.. so its getting recharged.

Why i think it is the timing.. when i got the tune the tuner told me that he thought my timing might be off a tooth or two.. but he adjusted the Map 4 degrees.. which i kindof get.. but i'm not a tuner.. he did this it started running better and he plugged away on my car and she ran great.

So.. is it possible that my timing is off and on a cold start like this the ECU and map being 4 degrees off isn't working at such a low RPM?

has this ever happened to anyone?

I later checked my Dizzy and the cap had some corrosion on it so i got a new one.. and i've been parking in a garage last few nights and she starts up fine in the morning now.. I think it is because of the warmer temp in the garage.. but i'm affraid to park her outside since i can't miss work. lol.. and yeah after she is warmed up.. i can go back 2, 4, 6 hours later and she will start just fine..

Just the damn.. cold... WHY?

Do you ever check to see if its getting fuel? Or do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn it to the on position before starting the car?

and auto ecu with a 5speed?!?!?! Wtf? I declare shinanigans.

yeah.. the fuel pump is good.. i wait for it to engage before cranking the engine.. and the Auto ECU was before the tune.. only drove on it for a few days and when i moved over to seattle area i got a 5 spd ecu and then got the tune.. then came the cold BS weather and my issue

excellent trouble shooting sir.. but this is not the issue i am sure... next?

Re: cold out.. engine turns but no fire

yea this has happened to me actually just about 2 weeks ago.
turned out it was just my plugs so i switched back to my old ones and now it works fine and for the hell of it i cleaned the distributor.
i thought it was the cold too cuz it would sputter a lot in the morning.

you said it might be your timing..if its your timing check your timing marks on your cam gears..you could of spun a cam if it skipped a tooth..
