Yeah I'm sure it can be swapped and there will be a little bit of wiring involved of course. You should trade me ur peices including tv for my peices including new headunit

Re: JDM TV/sat nav/ac screen

dude i bet thats worth a lot of money. espeically with the OEM carbon fiber trim...i would leave it man...makes your lude very unique. i've never seen that on a 5g before...not stock at least.

Re: JDM TV/sat nav/ac screen

The parts list that you'll need is quite extensive. Obviously, you'll need the replacement a/c control panel, replcement head unit and surround. But not only that, if you want to have the digital climate control then you'll also need the sensors and the looms - neither is exactly easy to find. The normal time to convert a standard slider a/c control panel to a digital climate control in a fifth gen is about a week with the dash apart, so I wouldn't imagine you getting any change from that amount of time.

Replacing the screen I'm not so sure, it couldn't be that hard to wire in an aftermarket tv/dvd screen/head unit, then you could just clip in the standard trim panel.

You've got a JDM SiR don't you? Is the fact that the TV won't work with your PAL system the only thing that worries you? You can buy converters for that sort of thing.

Re: JDM TV/sat nav/ac screen

its not only the tv, the sat nav wont work (unless app 700 UK i spent at honda to convert it) and as i said the surround is buggered and ebay etc certainly wont have a trim to fit this 1, thats why i was asking if any1 knew if it was simple, but dont sound like it, LOL
its all controlled from a box in the boot, ive tried a converter for the tv, cnt get it to work
ive got an after market single in
but cheers anyway mate

Re: JDM TV/sat nav/ac screen

Yeah, I think that's something they didn't think all the way through when they imported them over there. IMO, it'd be way too much work to swap over and you're better off just getting a converter.

Gotta get it from Honda then, unless a local junkyard has one.

Re: JDM TV/sat nav/ac screen

Wow that piece is interesting. I can see how you'd want to rid your car of it because even though it scores some big concourse points its probably not a practical piece and the operating system is far behind the times. As Colin said the conversion to make a standard climate control work is extensive. You may be better off talking to body shops or specialty shops the are good with plastic repair and have it refinished. May be a little expensive but not nearly what a conversion would be.

take it out, sand it down, paint it. you'll have a hell of a time finding one, even used.

Re: JDM TV/sat nav/ac screen

700 is crazy for the converter but i know how you feel, i'm having the same problem with mine and but i don't know what to do with it. i don't want to take it out because it does look pretty cool, the only thing that's some bit useful is the tape player and who uses tapes anymore

have you tried prelude UK for the surround because there are a good few typeS's and imports on there and i think i saw a thread not so long ago where someone had crashed theres and is parting it out, it's worth a try anyways

let me know what you decide to do in the end about the tv and everything though because i'd be interested in seeing it

Re: JDM TV/sat nav/ac screen

I'm not sure that 700p converter is your only option - if there are half as many Jap imports getting around Ireland/UK/general area as there are here, then any general electronics store would be able to sell you something that would do the job.

I would imagine so, it's pretty much all the same techonology.

That one I don't think you can get around. Thing is that if you wanted to buy an aftermarket screen that had a sat nav hookup you wouldn't get much change from 700 either, if any.

Did you ever get a dvd running through the JDM screen? If so how?? I have the same system and would be happy if i could get the tv working or playing dvds.

On the back of the sat nav control unit in the boot, is a 5 pin din connection. Not sure if its an in or out put. Did you try connecting via that?
