Front strut removal help

So,

I'm following one of the write ups on here to do my new kyb struts. Everything is apart, and the fork is off the strut, and its ready to come out. The problem is, the strut hat (mount) is getting caught on the bracket (part of the body) for the upper control arm. So, the strut wants to come out, but the lip is catching the bracket and won't completely come out.

Has anyone run into this problem?

Need help asap!
I'm new on here, but I've been on e30tech for years... I'm new to hondas!

Thanks
Rich

yea I had this problem. i twisted and wiggled and pulled till i got it off of the lip...the first one was a pain, the other was easy once i realized you just have to wiggle and twist it off.

x2, just try twisting out at different angles to clear the lip, once you get one side cleared the other side should be obvious on what you have to do. be patient and dont get mad if it wont come out the first time. dont give up, you can do it!!

Re: Front strut removal help

thanks for the replies guys. The fronts are done, they just needed a little twisting and pulling. I just started the rears, they look easier than the fronts. Hopefully I finish this before it gets dark!

Thanks

Re: Front strut removal help

^^^ Jack up both sides and disconnect the to bolts on either side of the strut in the trunk and the whold control arm will easily swing around and rest on the door side of the wheel well, then i used my foot to push down the lug nut bolts and it lowered enough to get the strut out...kinda tricky to be able to see at the same time but do-able

Re: Front strut removal help

hey i wrote the how-to but never ran into that problem, so i never addressed it. i'm still happy with my shocks so i'm sure you will be too! did you get springs for the combo? and make sure to get that alignment done to. if you don't have access to the alignment bay check out big-o tires-$30 all wheel alignment with online coupon!!!
