Icon5 So got the tune up and now...

Got a tune up.
Dis cap, rotor, plugs, wires, normal tune up.
As the mech was working on it, I asked him if the plugs needed to be gapped.
He said no, they come pre-gapped.
(NGK Iridiums).
I watched as he tightened them down all the way.
Now...
When I up shift for example at say 3k rpm, I'll hit the clutch and the rpm will keep revving till bout 3.2k rpm, and then I'll complete the shift.

Before the tune up, as soon as I'd hit the clutch at say 3k rpm, they would drop to 2k rpm then I'd complete the shift.

So now it's actually kind of helping me when I shift cause the rpm's dont drop as low as before...But I'm wondering is it supposed to do this?

If more information is needed or my explanation wasn't clear, I "suppose" I could take a vid of it...

Re: So got the tune up and now...

when u push in the clutch u are letting off the gas right?

thats weird the rpms should not go up when u push in the clutch unless u r not lettin off the gas...if ur not letting of the gas, then yea ur rpms would jump up cus ur taking the load off the motor

and BTW even "pregapped plugs" should be checked for the proper gap....what kinda mechanic was he

Re: So got the tune up and now...

sh*t Goodyear?... , tuneups are easy u should of just done it urself

but since u brought it there, bring it back to him and tell him its acting up after he worked on it..let it be his problem

Re: So got the tune up and now...

i was driving my Lude last night...and watched the tach real close and if i shifted at 3k the revs did jump to about 3200rpm...just a little ...i never noticed it before but it did do that for a second as i up shifted.....so i wouldnt worry about it...it prob was the same as before u just didnt notice...and after the tuneup u were just thought it was differant....

Re: So got the tune up and now...

I would say that you need to clean the iacv. I had a problem like that with my 98 Accord at idle. I removed it from the TB and cleaned it. No more revving. Hope this helps.
