Need help: 99 factory cd player

I recently replaced my battery, and when i did the stock cd player reset. I guess it has an anti-theft feature, because Its now asking me for a code and will not turn on until i put it in. The car has had 4 owners I think, so getting the code could be pretty difficult. does anyone know anything I can do? Is there a way to reset the code? please help!

Re: Need help: 99 factory cd player

Well mine has a sticker on top off the whole assembly so I would take the bessel off and unscrew the radio assembly and look there. Mine is also wrote in the back of my prelude manual.

take your stero out, there is a serial number, call honda dealer and give them the serial number, they will give the 5 digit code.

Re: Need help: 99 factory cd player

^Precisely. They may ask a couple numbers from the back so just make sure you have it in hand. If you pull the battery cable again it should reset your attempts. I believe you get 5 or so.

SHOULD be... but isn't always there. I had to take mine out, get the serial number and go into the local honda dealer in person to get the code. They wouldn't tell me over the phone. Which I don't blame them. The whole idea is that if your stereo is stolen, it won't work in someone elses car. So they figure if you have the balls to steal the stereo AND come in asking for the code you can have it lol.

But after you get it, write it down and put it in the glove box in case you ever need it again.

Re: Need help: 99 factory cd player

if the dealership give you a hard time about the code, tell them you got the unit from a junkyard. if that doesnt work, let me know and i'll give you the number to a dealership that will give you the code w/ no problems
