What down pipe? Are you talking about wanting to weld a collector pipe in place of the factory one?

Re: exhaust piping size?best perforemance?wich?

it sure does seem this way. I can't remember what Absolute Prelude was like, but I don't think they were like the other forums either.

PO is becoming a waste of time. Every thread posted turns into something else, don't you agree?

uhh i guess so... about tha subject turning into something else. buddy 3" is just too bbig. you might get some lagg. remember, the engine always needs pressure for those long runs. but for the quarter mi, it probably works. but i have plans to keep my prelude mod simple. "one small step for man one giant leap for mankind" i kinda want to keep mods a secret but i think i just wont share too much details. well i got a 2 1/2 pipe (no resonator) from cat to muff. in the full race tuned cars theres noo need for smogg. because all they do is race not daily drive to get tags. ENGINE RESPONSE IS KEY. SMOOTH BUT INSANE ACCELLERATION.. MIND BODY AND SPIRIT. LOL fuk it, engine management, v-tec controll, handata ecu with launch control chip and spoon, race/test pipe(no cat), stage 3 clutch clutchmaster 3 put fly pressure, axles, msd step 3, venom injectors & rail, dual titainim valve springs(preludes need em), short shift,4-1 1peice headers, hankook tires, etc.. and all i have to do for smogg is switch the test pipe, rerogram ecu back then. yup its fun to fantasize

buddy, in case it wasn't BLATANTLY obvious by my sig, avatar, and location, i'm boosted; 3" is not too big (for me). the OP didn't even tell us what his mods are or are planned to be, so i was assuming a best case scenario that he wants to boost his car later on down the road, and instead of wasting $500 on an off-the-shelf exhaust like i did, i'm suggesting 3" to prevent other people from making the same mistake that i did.

oh and buddy, even if you AREN'T boosted, blake has already proved that 3" on an H22 will make more power than a smaller exhaust piping.
thank you, come again.

I was about to say you live in modesto and you have all that done to your Lude ima need to come by and check it out, ha. Im from Livingston BTW always in Modesto and Turlock tho. and Yep 3 inch(no matter how loud and annoying it is, and how many cops it attracts) makes more power, I'll dig up Blakes aticles a little later.

To the OP: I say if your primarily stock go with a 2.5 collector mod to a high flow cat, or if your not in cali and don't need to worry about SMOG, test pipe, with a 22in resonator, and 2.5 mandrel bent piping all the way back into a vibrant muffler.

Thats pretty much going to be my set-up minus the collector mod since i just got a Hytech Header w/ a 2.5 collector

And Nick the "Thank you, Please come again" line is reserved for the Indians.lol

haha,

SILENCE! I KILL JOOUUU!!.

edit: Ok well i just NOW re read the OP, but well yea..Not sure what you can do about the WHOLE downpipe, but a 2.5 collector plus a 2.5 high flow cat will free up some phonies.

Re: exhaust piping size?best perforemance?wich?

Actually, a stock H22 with minimal mods, tuned, has been proven to make more power with 3" than 2.5". In fact, the tune was for 2.5" and the 3" was slapped on and it still made more power.

yeah i agree. certain people have become somewhat post whorish in the non off topic and it really is becoming out of hand unhelpful. at least the search intake crap quieted down.

as for the 3" exhaust. this was proven tuned now, let's assume that not everyone will get a tune even though they should especially if they're asking about what's best to make what power yada yada. but i think if no tuning is involved nor ever will be because some people call it quits at i/h/e, i think 2.5" is the good way to go.
