RMF header

Anyone knows why you need to get rid of AC and PS when installing a RMF header.Or you dont need to?

Re: RMF header

This is an RMF style header. I got rid of my A/C years ago, but as you can see, I still have my power steering and it's also way closer to the header with my supercharger. Also, the header pushes the primary tubes closer to your upper radiator hose. I have a new flexible stainless steel radiator hose, but in this picture, its covered in header wrap.

Re: RMF header

clearance issues. would be the only reason I can see for gettin rid of anything.

my fan was relocated to the front side of the radiator, and the ac lines were re routed the same way. you don't have to lose anything, there are options..... at an expense lol.

I'd get rid of A/c before I got rid of PS. I got a moonroof and 2 windows that'll do the job just fine

And I believe you make 8-12 whp gains with an RMF. There was some guy on HT i believe it was who said you could make upwards of 15whp with RMF or SMSP I can't remember which it was. But you won't make that kind of power with too many other headers.

i plan on loosing both the a/c and p/s. less rotating mass = increase in numbers.

Re: RMF header

a little bit, but you can feel what the car is doing in the corners more. my friend took his p/s off of his integra and let me drive it, i loved it. it does make it tough to turn when your parked or going very very slow but when you are driving at above 15mph its barely any difference.

Re: RMF header

I only worry about you and the heavy-ness of the Prelude. The heavier the car, the more you're going to miss power steering. It is true that the family 89' Accord I used to drive has the PS taken out of it. And since it's a light car (maybe no more than 2700lbs) it's very pleasant to drive above 10mph. Hell, as long as the car is moving, you can turn the wheel wherever you want. But I don't know man. The Prelude might be harder for you to crank the wheel.

Just don't forget, when you take the PS off, you must plug the holes on all the lines. It still needs the PS fluid to circulate and not get contaminated, or else you'll be buying a new steering rack due to corrosion and friction damaging it.
