I can only think of a few things here ...

1. What do you mean you cut up a pipe and used it for your intake ... you didn't buy an intake as a whole?
2. All vacuum lines hooked up properly?
3. You obviously have been driving it extra hard since the intake, I'm sure your about to flintstone your lude cuz your foots so far down on the floor. Keep out of vtec and you'll notice a lot better gas mileage.

i was going to state the 3rd one..but was afraid it would be a stupid answer but yeah it does make sence..you obv have your intake hooked up and to really hear your intake sort of is in vtec......so if your driving hard..most likely your losing gas mileage lol

yeah try staying out of vtec so much. i remember when i got my intake, vtec can get addicting because it sounds so much gnarlier

Get your car to normal running temperature. Then turn it off and disconnect the negative (or postive) terminal on your battery for about 5 minutes to reset the car's ECU. This will cause the ECU to recalculate the air/fuel ratio next time you turn it on. When you turn it back on, make sure the engine is still warmed up and let it run for a solid minute or 2 at idle.

and I agree, spending more time in VTEC is a great way to lower gas mileage
