Hello and a little help!

Hello gents,

Just picked up my '97 Prelude and so far I am happy to have it. Thanks for having me on board here....

A few questions that maybe you can help me out with though:

1.) The car I bought has the insanely fast blinker set up and it is really, really annoying. Both the turn signals and the emergency flashers blink at super speed and all the bulbs seem to be intact making me think it is an aftermarket relay? Do the "fast blinker" relays look any different than a factory turn signal relay and where do I find it? Or maybe the factory relay has gone bad?

2.) The car is equipped with Tein HA coilovers including the pillowball mounts. Handles great but the rear makes the worst clunking noise as I go down the road. Do the monoball/pillowball mounts always make that noise or do you think something needs to be tightened?

Any help you guys can provide would be very appreciated! Thanks in advance.

-Alex

Re: Hello and a little help!

The rear shock knock issue is caused by the Damper Mounting Collar being compressed over time and getting worn, which would cause excessive movement (travel) of the Damper Mounting Base thus, creating the 'knock' sound.

As far as the fas blinker goes, put ur hazards on and check ALL of ur bulbs (side markers too) if one is out it can cause a rapid blink, I've also seen use of led lighs cause a rapid blink.

Re: Hello and a little help!

Thanks Smokey.....do you think the Tein Coilovers also have that particular piece on them or do they use something different?

np. Eaither way it dosen't matter go to hondapartsdeals.com and look for part # 52728-SM1-A02 and it is litterally $ .25

p.s. another option would be to go to your local honda dealer and tell them to look up this service bulletin and get you the part, im sure it would be like $10 there but you'll make that up in shipping anyway.

Re: Hello and a little help!

So if all the bulbs are good, any more insight on the turn signal issue?

Re: Hello and a little help!

in response to the turn signal issue, i had the same problem. Just went to checker and replaced the bulbs for about 5 bucks. Most likely that is whats up with yours but you might need a new blinker.

Re: Hello and a little help!

Yeah I had that problem in my old teg so I just bought all new bulbs and that fixed it. Maybe that might work for you, if not then break out the volt meter..

Re: Hello and a little help!

I am also going to check the sway bar end links for play...I heard that can be a symtom as well. Do the turn signal relays ever go bad on these cars?

thanks again
