h22a1 inplace of my h22a4 i need answers

hey guys,i bought a 97 honda prelude it has a h22a1.It seems to be idleing real high with map sensor on it.It only idles high when the cluth is pressed in or it is in neutral.when i take the sensor off the top of the intake it no longer does the high idle but i lose my vtec.

Question one- do i need to get a h22a1 intake aswell so that the sensor is right?or do i need to get a odb1 ecu?

question two- if i hvae to switch the ecu do i need to change the harness aswell?

question three-what other reasons could be making my car idle at 3-4 k when cluth is in or in nuetral while the map sensor is plugged in?ive read the final idle thread fyi so dont bother going that direction.

if yall could send some pics of your vacum lines though on the back of the take to the best of your ability to show where they go i will sned some pics also of what i have going on.pics will be here later tonight.

Re: h22a1 inplace of my h22a4 i need answers

so heres the picture and numbers of what you see.

1-vacum hose from intake being blocked off be previous owner with a screw.
2-vacum hose being blocked off with a rubber from the previous owner.
3-the sensor that i have been taking off to get the high idle to go away.(only happens when push clutch in or car is in nuetral.(map sensor).no vtec when its off :(.

just a little of my own thinking but if it is a h22a4 intake mani should i try and find a h22a1 intak emani with the correct amount of vacum lines and such?

You'd need a 4G one. Also, you shouldn't need another ECU. You can't swap an OBD1 motor into a car with an OBD2 harness without switching to an OBD1 harness/ecu, so that should already be done anyways. Otherwise the car wouldn't run at all.

Re: h22a1 inplace of my h22a4 i need answers

Hmmm never heard of that.every where i read they talk about wich ecu to use or say there using a odb1 or 2 on a car.so a odb2 harness woulndt work on a odb1 ecu and vis versa?and how do i know if my ecu is a odb1 besides just saying it is cause its a a1 motor?

actually thats not true. i can vouch for it. i drove it and took a look at the ecu. he's got a P5P ecu with an obd2 harness. dont ask me how cuz idk but it does have an obd2 ecu and harness with a H22A1 motor in it.

EDIT: wrong section. mods move to general tech talk :)

yea in correct about the ecu went to other forums and asked a guy who has done alot of other swaps and he says he used the odb2 ecu in em as well with no problem its coming down to the vaucum lines leading in and out of the map sensor.
