Icon2 Borla muffler/exhaust?

Hey guys I am pretty new to the whole tuning scene (please bare with me), but I have just bought a 1997 Prelude m/t w/ 88xxx miles on it

The whole car is stock at the moment, but i am looking to build it up N/A

As my first mod, i wanted to get a new exhaust system, and after days of searching for the perfect sound...i have found that a custom cat-back with a magaflow high-flow cat and Borla muffler to be the best sound out there...these are videos of other "similar cars" with a similar set up:

I would love to hear some feedback and thoughts about this setup. Oh and i am going to do 2.5" piping (should I do myself w/ magaflow piping or take to an exhaust shop)? And i am debating over what type of borla muffler to go with...XR-1 Sportsman? XR-1 Multicore? or S-Type?

Thanks

Borla exhuasts are extremelly loud & overbearing. You wont get my vote on it.

Most borla exhausts sound incredible on high displacement cars. Not on our little whiney 2.0 to 2.2 liter rice-cake makers.

because nobody wants rice pilaf spewing out of their exhaust. And they may actually care about their motors and not want to blow them up

....yea i must have forgot that even though there's a rev limiter your motor is still going to blow up if you even come close to it once.....

Re: Borla muffler/exhaust?

The tone of a B-series vs an H-series is like comparing Tyra Banks to Don King, so those videos don't really help you anyway.

I say no to Borla and Flowmaster (Past experience).

Icon2 Re: Borla muffler/exhaust?

Hmm...so what is the difference between the tones of h and b series motors? Personally, my favorite of these videos is the 91 Civic Sedan's muffler, which is an Borla S-Type muffler. Comparing this borla sound to other mufflers, such as the Evo setup, N1, Tanabe, i think that there really isn't any other muffler that i've heard that could provide me with this sound...not a fart can/ebay special.

Do you guys have any recommendations as to what setup i should go with?

Thanks for everything

Re: Borla muffler/exhaust?

H-series is a bit deeper.

Vibrant flat black muffler has a good tone.

Re: Borla muffler/exhaust?

What is the difference between dual and single tip mufflers? Would the dual have more or less back pressure?

Lol, the whole back pressure theory has been tossed out the window in this day and age.

Re: Borla muffler/exhaust?

Run an open downpipe or straight pipe with no cats! It will give you the power benefit of moar noise!
On a serious note, look towards high quality exhausts. Some will sound like there are ghosts n stuff spewing from your exhaust.
I just realized I resurrected an old thread lmfao I replied to the wrong one haha
