And the winner is....

....The 5 speed

Last year i took my prelude in to get checked out and this is the sadness that came back to me

What?? 146 whp and 119 torque... faKKKKK i almost wanted to cry a little. lol.

They guys at the shop were like dude.. it's an auto... what did you expect?
do a 5spd swap and bring her back.. you'll see. lol.

So i did

and here you have it....

Wow! 189 whp and 154 torque.. much better

I was hoping for 200 but i'll live with 43 whp gain from the 5spd. I'm no math genius but thats almost a 25 percent gain. I don't know if any of you out there did a dyno run pre and post swap.. but here is the proof.

anyone rolling around with an auto out there... do this and you will thank yourself

That's a helluva increase. I've seen differences of 10-15%, but nearly 25% is huge!

And I'll bet it's a lot more fun to drive now too!

Re: And the winner is....

I dont get it... What were you expecting? Im glad you posted it up for everyone who doesnt understand drivetrain losses or know what Hondas are for this age and tranny types. Its cool to see and exactly as expected. Hopefully, some people learned from it. The shop that told you what to expect obviously knew autos are known to have significant drivetrain losses.

Here, lets have some fun:

These values are published all over(H/F series):
Manual tranny appx. 15% drivetrain loss
Auto tranny apprx. 35% drivetrain loss

Upon calculating that even we come up with:
220 Base HP

Theoretical:
manual should be 189whp
auto should be 143whp
Actual:
manual is 189whp
auto is 146whp

Those numbers differed from your values so little this just proves those values. Keep in mind temperature, elevation, wear, and about a dozen other small values play a part in your power output.

These results also only are good on this dyno as the 220hp is calculated and assumed from the dyno reading. Other dyno readings may vary significantly. /End disclaimer
