1998 auto tranny problem

ok, i have a 1998 honda prelude base model.....so my car just went into the shop again for a transmission related problem. 3rd time in 5 years. Maybe someone can pinpoint it b/c i can't. I was driving along one morning and as the car changed gears the tranny just slipped out of gear and would not drive forward. I would have to shut off the car, start it back up and begin to drive again....only to do the same thing every time. Check engine light was on for a while before anything actually broke down. Sorry but i don't have the codes with me but can someone help???

nope..... i agree with nick the auto tranny, looks like its time for a 5spd swap sir its either that or well getting another auto isnt really a good idea. and if the codes tell you repeatedly to check other codes and just says transmission related yup it the auto tranny crap out

Re: 1998 auto tranny problem

So here is my update.....my uncle has a friends who wrecked his prelude. good news and bad news...bad news is all parts were taken....good news is i got the auto tranny and he offered to put it in for me no charge!! so i guess i might sell it after he's done with it and buy a 5 speed.
