Replacing rear strut -- HELP!

Guys,
I really need some help here... I was gonna replaced both the rear strut but after spending 5+ hours... I only got one side done. Maybe I'm missing a step cause I have a hard hard time getting the spring/strut assembly off and on? What is the trick guys?

All i did was unbolt the two nut at the top and the cross bolt at the bottom.. but it doesn't seem to be an easy way to get the assembly OFF...

what else should I do to get it off easily? :noidea:

Cheers
Andy

Re: Replacing rear strut -- HELP!

I didn't do step 5 to 8...

I read another DIY post and the guy mentioned the hub and didn't mentioned this part #5---#8

Will it affect the alignment if I do step 5-8?

Re: Replacing rear strut -- HELP!

ok thats easy

just take off the 2 17 nuts holding the UCA on. then the entire suspension will drop down giving you plenty of room to take it out.

Re: Replacing rear strut -- HELP!

just unbolt the upper control arm from the body :)
it'll make it easier. Just make sure you don't spin the UCA too much...it may rip the boot on the ball joint.

Re: Replacing rear strut -- HELP!

So.. you are saying.. I can lock down the assembly with a few turn, released the spring compressor.. then just keep turning until it can't go down anymore?

I have already done one side.. and I didn't replaced the spring.. and the side with the new Tokicoo HP shock is lowered then the side with factory shock on.. is that right?

Re: Replacing rear strut -- HELP!

your talking about the single nut at the very top of the strut, correct?

yes, tighten that as much as possible WHILE the spring is still compressed with the spring compressor, then once you can't tighten it anymore, uncompress the spring. you also hafta be weary that when you're uncompressing the spring that the ends of the springs match up correctly with their perches on the strut and into the rubber hat, or else it won't be sitting correctly.
