CEL Help

Okay, having posted this in the DIY for how to diagnose your CEL,
No responses...
So here I am.
I believe this is just 1 consecutive blink. But I don't know for sure, so im looking for anyone that has done this and knows the "short" and "long" blinks.
My light just keeps blinking as it does and doesn't stop.

1 = heated oxygen sensor.
Someone please help

Re: CEL Help

looks like its just 1, if there were any other codes than they would cycle in after the 1. take it to autozone and put it on the obd2 scanner and see what it says.

No autozone here. Maybe part source can do it for me? Perhaps I should invest in a OBD2 scanner for myself? :D

Re: CEL Help

OBD scanners are pretty expensive.
I'd only buy one if I were doing a total rebuild or something.

It looks like one blink, but then I thought the blinking thing didn't happen in 5th gens.

Then take it to a friendly auto-garage for a mechanic(who is cool) to scan it for you.

They aren't that expensive actually, I bought mine off ebay for less than $40. bucks. This one, albeiet extremelly flimsy and cheap has the ability to read DTC (CEL) codes and also gives the definition of the code. That and it can also clear, "reset" code(s) as well.

Re: CEL Help

So I took it there, asked if they could scan and how much. They said no charge. So it was the o2 sensor before the cat (or w/e.. it was the first one though lol).
He reset and it hasnt come back on.

So I am satisfied to say now I can def diagnose it myself, just wanted to get a confirmation from a source.

Re: CEL Help

Sounds good man.

...change your o2 sensor soon. It's on its way out and you'll see it reflect in your gas mileage. Just think about how much $ you'll be saving with a properly working o2 sensor. <--gawd, i sound like a damn Geico commercial :P

Re: CEL Help

If you don't have a friend that owns a OBDII code reader I would suggest that you invest the measly amount of cash and buy one...the first time anyone you know needs to use it ask for $5 to help off set the $65, they come in handy more that one would think...I have a good buddy who has one so I just borrow it
