Icon10 Type SH or....

Sup guys, I'm new to this website and the prelude scene...and I'm looking to buy a prelude.

I just have a quick question.....is it worth it to spend more money to get the type SH model or should I just stick with getting the regular base model?

I'm 18 years old so my budget is kinda tight atm...I have around 5-6k to spend on a car.

I am also planning on tuning.

Thanks guys!

Re: Type SH or....

If you want to do mods go with the base, otherwise the SH is the way to go.

Re: Type SH or....

well if you want to get your car tuned then i think you will loose atts. i cant remember. but if you just want some basic bolt ons and have a very nice cornering car go with the SH model

btw welcome to the site man

Re: Type SH or....

In standard form the SH is the better car. Though if you plan on doing any serious mods then opt for a base. Any tuning other than a piggyback (such as a Neo, etc) will cause you to lose the ATTS function, so you'll be lugging around all the extra weight.

SH is more fun unless you have lots of money to sink into a car.

SH is a better car actually compared to the base model if both cars are stock, the base has the the swirly wheels and non painted trim which isnt as nice, plus the ATTS which is a plus and its good for all around driving and if u can find someway to incorporate it into the performace mods then ur good, and it really depends on what your doing to the car. The base is only better in some instances.

Re: Type SH or....

thats all cosmetic you talked about besides ATTS..people that go for boost don't want an SH because it cannot handle more then 250hp..and honestly speaking people get addicted and shoot over that lol so now your just carrying dead weight.

SH wheels..you can buy from part outs as well as the sideskirts, and the interior door panel

It really depends on what your going for the SH is a better lookin car if u dont wanna spend the extra cash on the 5 spoke rims and painting the trim. If your not dropping a turbo or alot of add ons, i would look to get an SH but everyone has there own preference and i personally think a more stock looking car on the outside looks better to a point and it also has the potential sleeper look as well but to each his own.

yea but you benefit from the car if ur not looking to push 250whp. Daily driving and some mods wont effect the difference at all. The ATTS unit 40lbs maybe alil more, plus hoses, oil inside the unit, etc. If you can find part outs in good condition for not a rip off price good luck. I like havin an SH with all the original parts lol

Re: Type SH or....

one more thing Prices with preludes now are around the same whether its a base or an SH, its not like it used to be when u were buying one from the dealership. I got my car for $5500 worth every penny. watch out for the dumbasses who try to rip u off for like 7 or 8g's cuz some cars definitely arent worth it.

I personally would rather get a Type SH. Go for the top of the line model.

In all honesty, people say, "base base base" because people love to dream. Dream that they are going to drop a turbo, supercharger or whatever squirrel powered modification that will hinder with the ATTS system.

The main question is, you at age 18, are you a dreamer or a realist? the answer to that question should answer the question of which trim of Prelude you want.

Re: Type SH or....

what up bro. i have owned both a base and an sh.

when deciding what you want you need to decide how much you wanna mod the car. the sh will limit you to certain mods and you will cap out w/ the power increase w/out making mods to remove the ATTS unit and possibly upgrade your tranny.

if you go base you have free range to do whatever. the ATTS unit can only handle approx 250 hp. so anything more you'll have to say goodbye to it.

if you are not lookin to heavily mod it i say go SH all the way. it is so much fun to drive and handles SO much better.

hope this helped

listen to this guy, he won't steer you wrong.

I knew what I wanted from the start. I dig the base and it sure as hell serves my purpose. in fact it took me twice as long to find my car because I wanted a base.

buy what you want, it's all just opinion.

yea I mean if you even have a lude who cares, you got a nice car with potential to build, were all prelude brothers and sisters here with the car in mind, so either way its all good.

Re: Type SH or....

you can always tune up the base to out perform the sh. Go with the base and save some green, and put that towards some tasteful mods to the car.

just my 2 cents.....
