5th Gen Headlight issue

I tried to put in some higher power headlights, not HID, just some Silverstars. They kept blowing out on me. Usually in about 2 weeks. Has anyone else had this problem? I'd like some brighter lights and these made a difference for me...while they worked.

Re: 5th Gen Headlight issue

Silverstars are known to blow out, but damn, only in 2 weeks time?

Try a different brand like PIAA or Raybrig.

Re: 5th Gen Headlight issue

yes, this is a common problem which i experienced too.. the wiring for your headlights can handle the power demand from the headlights thats why they blow. i had the same problem when i tried using 130w headlamps (off road use only). mine used to last about 3 days. if i were you i would upgrade to a 6000k hid kit.

Re: 5th Gen Headlight issue

Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to weigh the options and I'll post some pics or something. My last question: Where in the hell do I find new headlight sockets?

Re: 5th Gen Headlight issue

^ cheap plug lol but tis true

I silverstars for 3 years, dailly driving, without a problem. 5 years after purchase they are still in my car and working great. I believe it's how they're installed.

Re: 5th Gen Headlight issue

No,I use Nitrile Gloves or a soft, non-porous cloth when installing them. I'll more than likely get into the relatively inexpensive HID kit that 1Bad mentioned, I just have to look into it more, and more than likrly post more questions about it. At least you guys aren't as bad as some of the Honda Forums that I've tried in the past. Again, thanks for the help.

Yeah, Silverstars are crap.
I've been on Xentec HID's for over a year now and love em.
