Icon9 lock/unlock wires

First off i just wanna say thanks to everyone on here that has helped me before and explain that i am working with a '97 JDM BB8 (SiR w/4WS).

My question to everyone is regarding the lock and unlock wires used to connect to aftermarket keyless entry systems. According to 95% of the wiring diagrams I could find for the car, the wires should be located in the passenger's side kick panel in the multiplex control unit in a blue 14-pin connector. I have located that unit in my vehicle but the two wires are not in that connector. Was wondering if anyone here knows of another place that I can find the wires other then inside the doors. I found one wiring diagram that says the wires could be located in the driver's side kick panel in a 2-pin grey connector, but I am unable to find that connector. If anyone has found that or knows of another place the wires can be found, it would be greatly appreciated, as the keyless entry portion of my alarm/remote start is the only portion giving me problems. Thanks again for any help.

As far as I know, I am looking for a Black/White (-) wire for lock and a Blue/Orange or Black/Orange (-) wire for unlock. Any pictures of location would be extremely helpful!

Re: lock/unlock wires

You've got a '97 right? Somewhere I read that the 97-99 cars didn't have keyless entry. Though I've not been able to confirm this as being true or bullshiit (I suspect it's the latter)

have you access to another car, like a 99-01 model? See if they have it. Or alternatively tell me exactly what you're looking for and I'll see if it's in mine. I've got a RHD '00.

I had a 97 Si before and a 97 SiR now. My 97 Si had OEM keyless entry, so I'm sure what you heard about 97-99 is false. What I'm looking for are the wires that are supposed to be in a 14-pin connector in the passenger kick panel in the multiplex control unit. Unfortunately my cars wiring doesnt match up with all the wiring information i find because its not USDM. There should be two wires in the car, one for unlock and one for lock, both should be negative (-) according to wiring diagrams. I've read that if not in the passenger kick panel that they could be above the drivers kick panel in a 2-pin grey connector that doesnt connect to anything and be held up using blue tape. I cant find that myself, but maybe if someone else has they could show me where they found it and i could check on mine in that location.

ill give lilbluelude a PM and ask him. when i worked at CC installing stuff we had a database of info on almost any car that came in. sometimes it had helpful hints and alternate locations, and sometimes it was more descriptive then what can be found online for free as well. hopefully someone out there knows a second or third location that i can find these wires without completely ripping my doors off. ^^

that must be for the USDM prelude then, cuz my 97 JDM had factory keyless entry. on top of that, the 5th gen lude started here in 96. so im sure theres plenty of things different between the USDM and JDM ludes. thats why i was wondering if someone who has a RHD 5th gen might possibly know where those wires are.

Re: lock/unlock wires

do the usdm cars use multiplex circuitry? most multiplex locks i've worked on use 1 wire and 2 resistors inside the lock button on the door. the way you adapt it to the alarm is by connecting the lock and unlock wires to the same wire with 2 different value resistors.

but that may not be the case on your car.

just remove the locking button on the door panel and look at the wires coming out of it. either side will work. then look for those wires in the drivers kick on the door side of the harness (the wires coming in from the door before they hook into something)
