P0401 - EGR Issue.. please help

Guys...
My engine light came on and the code is P0401 which is insufficient EGR re-circulation bla bla bla...

I remove the EGR as well as the passage tube and gave it a good clean up using throttle body/intake cleaner.

Reset the check engine light.... and the error code came back within a day.

I then clean the EGR again.. and I also make sure that the valve does open when it see vacumm....

So.. question is.. what is going on guys? The EGR valve seems to be fine.. wherelse can I look?

Please help..

Cheers
Andy

there is some more egr stuff on the drivers side fender well. follow the hose from the valve to that area and make sure all of those hoses are free of debris. did you remove the negative battery cable to reset the code?

on OBD2 cars disconnecting the negative cable wont always reset the ECU. sometimes the code will stay in the memory still. did you use a scanner to clear or what.
