Re: navigation from 08 si in a 5th gen

In todays world of mobile electronics, anythings is possible. It would take some serious time and money to make a mod like that. I have done some crazy installs in my time, but this is one thing I don't feel comfortable trying on my own.

I am sure if you find someone with the know how and skills to pull of something of this magnitude, drop them a few hundred dollars, if not close to a grand, it can be done.

The thing about the newer cars today is all the electronics are all intergraded in some way. For example,in my 2004 Accord the AC controls and radio are all connected. In order for me to be able to keep my AC disply panel working I hade to install the aftermarket deck below the main display in front of the gear shift. It was a PITA to do, but I still retained the OEM appearance and managed to get a better system.

So yes it is possible, but it will be complicated to get it done. Not a project a novice installer should take on.

Good Luck !!!

Later !!!

honestly for the price you would pay for that you could get an aftermarket navigation double din for probably less. that would also be easier to install and customize.

Re: navigation from 08 si in a 5th gen

Just to get the unit and required parts would be at least 150-200% of the cost of a high end double din that would have much better features. The factory nav units use speed sense and other such inputs and its not like its just a wire to hook up. They have bus systems that handle all the info. From a civic would probably be an easier one to do but then you still have the ginormous radio you would have to fankenstein into your dash. And some things are impossible. To get a new GM nav into your car IS impossible. The LAN system is so indepth you couldn't possibly get all the required gear into another car and make it work.
