Yeh, that's been on my to do list since about a week after I bought the car. Damn I hate that orange backlight on the dash.

Re: gauges...someone do this

All I have is my iPhone right now since my wife is out of town with the camera. So they are a little grainy.

I did the same to the climate control but I havent gotten the color off the back of the buttons and it gives it an off color.

And my superbrightasfukinhell map lights.

Re: gauges...someone do this

That looks sick! I saw this a while back and like colin have gonna-do-it for ever. I gotta buckle down and get crackin. Mines gonna be slightly different. I'm gonna use a relay to give either a full 12v with ignition or the variable voltage from the dimmer in dash once the lights are on. Then tint the gauge lense and viola! Stealth gauges like you would see in an infiniti. Love that look!

I've also toyed with that idea, because I love it. Like the new Acuras as well, you stare into a black hole until you turn the key, then it all ligths up.

Personally, I like 5mm LEDs rather than Surface Mount LEDS. Thats what was used in the write up also.

That may be an easier way, but LED replacements give you hotspots on the cluster. Believe me, I tried that 1st and was disappointed that I didn't listen to those that said the same thing. The LED strips give an even light output on the gauge face since you will only see the ambient light from them.

X2,

I had just replaced the bulbs too, but they had serious hotspots and I ended up using strips.

these bulbs wont give you hotspots. they have 3 led bulbs on one so there a lot brighter than the single bulb

^^^ I have those exact same things and I find that they do have somewhat of hotspots... nothing terribly noticeable... but enough to piss me off.
