OBDI

I have tried searching, and most the stuff I find is nothing even in the same ballpark.

I searched "obdII to obdI conversion" | "obdI conversion" and many more things and got stuff dealing with rim questions etc.

I am looking into OBDI conversion.

So far I have found that I need to acquire one of the following ecu's: p13,p15,p28,p30,p61,p72,

with p72 being the best option.

Also I had read some reviews about boomslang OBDII to OBDI conversion harness', anyone have experience with these?

Now from what I understand there are also a few other things I need, but I can not find what all is needed.

Can anyone help me out on this?

I had been looking at many different mods for my car, and it just seems better to start with the ecu.

I am running a jdm h22 and found a shop in town that tune's imports which is what I would do once the conversion is done.

Re: OBDI

okay... so your swapping an obd1 jdm h22 motor in and you want to make your harness work w/ obd1.
you will need the boomslang harness... i have been using them for years. i have an obd1 h22a1 built motor in my 97 lude running hondata s300 (which only uses a obd1 ecu... im using a p28).
you will also need to convert the CRANK ANGLE sensor and TOP DEAD CENTER sensor wires from the ecu harness to the OBD1 distributor which you will be now using. the reason is on a obd2 h22a4 motor these sensors are down by the crank pulley. on older h22s...well obd1 h22s the distributor has these sensors built into to it. compatible distributors are the h22 obd1 distributor and the h23 obd1 distributor. hope this helps....

Re: OBDI

well kinda except this isn't and obd1 motor, its the jdm black top motor, the 200hp one that they advertise it as. it came with an obdII ecu, I am wanting to use the OBDI ecu so I can get a nice street tune

the engine was bought from hmotorsonline.com if that helps any?

Re: OBDI

You def have an obd1 motor but why the obd2 ecu?? Get you a p28 with a nice tune. Find glenn (mr_y82) he knows a little about it.

Re: OBDI

its OBD1 because the engine block code just reads h22a with no numbers

i would need boomslang harness, ecu, distributor, and a guide to tell me how to convert the wires.

i got it now, thanks.

Re: OBDI

okay..so yea every jdm h22 motor ive seen are always obd1. just get the motor in... then pm me and i ll tell you what to connect. just to make it easier ...before you put your motor in... run 4 16 gauge wires from where your ecu is to where the radiator sits... this should be more then enough wire to play w/. make sure they are 4 different colors so no confusion. insulate them... shrink tubing/ loom/ tape whatever. pm me when your ready.
