locked keys inside prelude

So i started up my prelude because i didnt want it to sit through an entire winter without running... like a dumbass i forgot about the auto lock and closed the door. Luckily my hood was open so i could kill the engine. My question is..... How the hell do i get inside the damn thing without calling a locksmith or the feds? From what i hear they are almost impossible to coat hanger.

look around out side for a solid object, cinder block, brick, crowbar, even a simple rock will do. I have come to learn after my last accident that I have the ability to break honda glass with my head.......

Re: locked keys inside prelude

it works best if you have to 1 big flat head screw driver and a smaller one but wrap them in a lil duck tape to help keep them from messing them up. Stick them in to pry the top of the door a lil then use a hanger to pop the lock.

Sign up for AAA. It's $40 a year and they'll pop your door open whenever you lock your keys inside. I've used it for myself, friends, and random people who lock their keys inside at the store :P

I dont exactly have an unlock kit, and that wasent a prelude. Preludes are freakin hard to pry the door open.

Re: locked keys inside prelude

make a spare key. doesn't have to have the transponder in it for the door. Keep it on a separate key chain, in your house, at your work, install a secret compartment on the under body and put it there. lol.

just some ideas :P

True. Honda can cut you a break in key based on your VIN for $6

Re: locked keys inside prelude

When you purchased the car, did you ever get a red key that you were told never to insert into the ignition unless you wanted it so no key could crank the car? I did, and that was in my house, so I used it to open the door (and then also make copies). I had my alarm set up to auto lock, and I went in the house for a min with the keys still inside the car.

Re: locked keys inside prelude

I got 1 key with the car and the red key. And on top of that, the other remote for my alarm didnt want to work.

After I unlocked it, after work I made 2 copies, one the person ****ed up, the other works. Both were transponder keys off ebay. stupid canadian tire employee.

If you don't want to call a locksmith, call a local tow yard, more than likely they could send a guy over to open it up real quick. They have the tools to open locked vehicles.

Not more hard then the other cars i "broken" in to. This is how a lock smith would unlock your car. The only difference is that they use a small air bag thing and a wire that had a handle and a grabber on it.

Re: locked keys inside prelude

I did this once only the keys were in my trunk.....and I had the trunk lock thingy on, you know the one you insert the key in to....AND to top it off my spare key was the valet key! I just called a few locksmiths in town until I found the one that had masters for my car. I drove down there and picked up the key for $3 and unlocked my trunk. Best part is I now have a spare key that will actually work

Well next time this happens, get a flat head screw driver and pry at the front corner of your window, run it across the edging, pull it open, and get a hanger and hook the unlock button.
