Prelude acting weird thinking about selling it

The reason I might sell it is because I cant get it to start anymore at all.
So far I was told it was the distributor. So I bought a used from a 97 prelude nothing. New battery nothing. I was told the fuel pump was working fine it turns on and off. New sparkplugs still nothing. I keep trying to turn it nothing so I think it might be flooded nope. I tried jumpstarting that didnt work either. I just put a gallon more of premium nohing. The car has not been started in a while like a month. It cranks over fine but wont start. Any info guys as to what else it might be. Oh yeah the cables are good to. This is what happened one day I was driving fine the next it started then it died and never started since. This happened after I switched from regular to premium come one guys any help would be appreciated I dont want to get rid of it. What els can be the problem I will try and post a video of what exactly is going on k guys.

Re: Prelude acting weird thinking about selling it

you need to do diagnostics on it b4 you go spending loads of money on stuff that u dont know if it will fix it or not. do a fuel pressure check and spark check, then get back to us. you also could have jumped ur timing, but i doubt it.

Sounds like when my minivan died. I had a cracked crank shaft. It would turn, but just wouldn't start.

Re: Prelude acting weird thinking about selling it

That happened to me in the middle of nowhere. It turned out to be the crankshaft wire sensor. It's a hundred bucks to get a new one. On the 4th gen it's located somewhere around the bottom of the motor. I'm pretty sure the only way to see it is if you jack up the car. It may also be called a crank position sensor. Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure it looked real similar to this, but it's from a civic:

When it came out it didn't cause a CEL. That day sucked, got stuck in the middle of nowhere on a highway for hours waiting for a damn tow truck to come.

Re: Prelude acting weird thinking about selling it

I have a 1999 Prelude 5 speed. Well today they did the spark plug check and its good. I dont want to buy a sensor and that not be the problem. They keep telling me I cant return it if its installed since its electrical. It keeps trowing the code well I dont kno what it is right now but I found out it says cylinder misfire 1234 all four wtf this is getting very irritating is I dont kno if this helps but I have a aem intake and dc headers. The dealership i got it from wont help I bought it from them 3k cash.

Re: Prelude acting weird thinking about selling it

Could it be the fuel pump. Check for a noise when you put it to the ON position, dont try to crank it. Just turn it to on a few times. You should hear a buzzing. If no buzz, check fuses and relay, anything was blown, replace, and try again for the the pump. Still if you dont hear anything, you need a new pump. make sure your getting fuel though. IF you do sell it, how much you want for it??

Never thought about that since the mechanic told me it was the distributor he said is wasnt giving enough current for the spark plug to spark something like that.

Yeah i hear buzzing from the fuel pump when its in the on possition and fuses are good. Well as for selling it I dont want to sell it since I love this car but if this keep going then I dont maybe 2500 or something like that.

Well I wasnt there when they did the check my dad was there tho I was working at six flags still do. They brought some sparkplug test thingy and if enough current was going threw the some light lit up thats was I was told.

So a few things I should look at are fuel pump ignition coil and what else.

Re: Prelude acting weird thinking about selling it

Hey well today I pulled the distributor cap and found oil inside what does this mean. I forgot set piston #1 to TDC before installing the distribtor does anyone know if this can cause my prelude to turn on. It wants to turn on I can hear like cranking its right there but nothing.
