Icon5 ? about h22, f22, and h23 trans????

i have a h22a4 base model and the trans is f***ed up. i did some research and i saw that people where talking bout the f22 and the h23 trans being able to bolt right on to the h22 engines. is that true? and im also planing on rebuilding my engine so what trans would be the best for an all motor? thanks

sorry if this had been discussed before.

Re: ? about h22, f22, and h23 trans????

thanks...so basically there isn't any difference in these 3 trans besides the gear ratio... so h22 would be better for all motor cuz of the gears being shorter. would i really feel that much of a difference between the h22 and the h23 trans? does any one know how much these trans run used and brand new?

Re: ? about h22, f22, and h23 trans????

The main difference like you said is going to be the gear ratio, and the jdm h22 tranny m2b4?, I believe, has the lsd.

Here are some good links to the specs:
http://hondaswap.com/reference-mater...n-specs-29132/
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=37839

And here's a fun little calculator for speed and what not (not sure exactly how accurate it is though):
http://www.zealautowerks.com/transcalc.php

Basically, since you have a vtec motor, you'll want to stick with the tranny that goes with it because with a h23 tranny you'll fall out of vtec when shifting. The f22 will only be worse. Also, the h23 and f22 tranny aren't built to shift at extreme rpms. At least, that's what I have experienced.

As far as price goes, anywhere from a couple hundred for a "in good shape" h23/h22 tranny to at least a grand for an lsd tranny. I'm sure a f22 tranny can be found cheaper like 100-150 bucks.

There are also ways to do hybrid trannys using different gears from different series trannys to have a custom setup for your application. Just fyi...
