NEW ENGINE QUESTIONS?

ok so last month i hit a water puddle that poped out of now where. D.O.T said it was a small sink hole? long story short i hydrolocked my engine and snapped #1 rod. and put a hole in the block. since i have a TYPE SH i cant find a block around here to save my life. people say that a TYPE S block wont work or something but all that looks diff is the location of oil filter. i found this website that has tons of jap engines and wondering if one of these will work? JDM H22A-DOHC-VTEC-OBD1 <------ this is a link BTW

Plus they come with a ecu which if its from japan would have the red line of 8,200 or 8,300 rpm. compared to my normal one of 7,800 rpm.

Then what's the purpose of this thread? what are you asking us???

The only motor that will bolt up to your SH transmission is the TYPE S motor.
If you use the search function (which you should've) you'll find information on all of this...

Re: NEW ENGINE QUESTIONS?

There are a number of different JDM H22A blocks available. There is no such thing as a USDM Type S block.

Now you've said you have a Type SH, which means it has ATTS. Now the ATTS transaxle assembly was different enough from the regular 5-spd to require a different block. This block was the same all around the world.

What you need to do is find out if the jdm engine came out of a vehicle equipped with ATTS.

make sure you call and talk to the people before ordering a motor. if it is a reputablablable site then they should be able to hook u up.

I have talked to about seven motor places, because when i do my swapp i will be sticking with the obd2 h22a, but it is not a 5th gen motor, it is specifically 4th gen 96 h22a, if that makes sense to anyone.

No such thing as a USDM Type S.
You can use another USDM SH or a JDM Type S block.

so the equivalent of the usdm Type sh is the jdm type s? i thought the base model usdm prelude was a type s???

so what i need is a jdm type s motor right?(is this the red top h22a?) that will be a direct bolt on for my sh tranny. with no modifaction at all and i can use my original ecu if i wanted.

sorry for all the questions im new at honda motors im use to mini American muscle. (4 cylinder=78whp s10)

Re: NEW ENGINE QUESTIONS?

Base model USDM Prelude is just Prelude - known affectionatly as Base. I spose the Type S is the equivalent of the SH if you look at it technically. But if you get a engine out of a Type S then it should bolt straight in.

Re: NEW ENGINE QUESTIONS?

ok. i just want to say thank you to everyone. i was about to listen to a dumb-a$$ and buy a base model block. now i just have to find just a type s/sh block. all i can find is swap kits with tranny and all the harnesses... so far cheapest kit is $2,800 but i dont need all the extra **** it comes with...
