Tranny Or Vtec?

Hi i just bout a 97 prelud ei love it so far untill.....hehe.I was driving for the first few days it has the SS tranny in it and it was jumping and slipping gears real bad and sometimes wouldnt even go into gear.i took it out to my shop and flushed tranny and stuck some new honda tranny fluid in it.2 days later i drove it 800 miles to break in the new motor.the vtec worke don this car and was running good till the 4th days of driving it.I was driving and all the sudden my speedometer went out and started bouncing around on cluster.at the same type tranny started acting up.i get home and try running car a little hard and every time its about to go into the vtec feeling te tranny feels like its going to break it litterly jerks and shifts it self.i can drive the car around fine as lon as i dont try to push it to point of vtec kicking in.but when i try to step on it,it jerks violently and will shift gears.again the speedometer does nto work now and sometime when it bounces up and down to 70-90 when im going 20-30mph it will throw me into 4th gear when in SS mode.is this the tranny going bad or gone bad or is the the VTEC?let me remind you the vtec ran good untill the speedometer when out.

Re: Tranny Or Vtec?

Like I said in your other post, replace your VSS and then see if that fixes your problems.

FYI: VTEC won't engage unless you are traveling at certain speeds in certain gears, so if your Vehicle SPEED Sensor is faulty, that will cause problems like yours.
