Break Light

So I was doing my long drive home from Dallas to Colorado and along the way whenever I would get off the highway to get gas, my break light comes on temporarily and would turn off once I got back on the road.

When I got closer to town and was doing more city driving it slowly went away and would only turn on when I pressed the petal all the way in. Now it doesn't do it at all.

It was really cold the whole drive back (10 to -5 degrees) and I'm just thinking the break lines got cold. However, my paranoid mother is worrying and is going to pay to have new break fluid put in and all that jazz, but I wanna know what it could be for my own education.

Guesses?

Re: Break Light

First don't have her pay way to much to do something you can do in an hour for under $50.
2nd i would look everything over and see if anything looks out of place. The cold might have something to do with it but IDK about that so im not help. What the level look like.

Re: Break Light

It could just be that your running low on brake fluid. Have you checked your levels?

Re: Break Light

this has been covered countless times. do a mother ****in search. i'm gettin really sick of seeing these threads every month. its more than likely the COLD thats doing it. the brake fluid sensor kicks on the same light as your e-brake. when the fluid is low it turns on. either your fluid is low, fill it. or its because its cold, it compresses the fluid, taking up less space, making the sensor think there is less fluid. not to mention the sensor is very touchy. the fluid could still be in the recommended range and it will still kick on the light. so fill it.
