Icon8 HELP ME misfire

i'm new to this forum and i bought a 2001 prelude sh with the h22a4 about a month ago and i've ran out of ideas...
the check engine light is on and i have a random misfire code and a cyl 1 & 4 misfire code, as well as a slight skip at idle, and the ignition timming is slightly late. i installed new plugs, wires, cap, rotor and ignition coil. i also pulled and cleaned the injectors as well as egr valve.
compression on cyl 1 is 200psi, cyl 2 is 180psi, cyl 3 170psi and cyl 4 is 145psi.

I know someone who said that the valve lash has some adjustment. if so could this solve my problem? i'm afraid that i may have to rebuild the top end and have it milled. as well as install new rings and bearings on the bottom end, and a timming kit. i don't have much money to work with, does anyone have any suggestions? PLEASE HELP...

Re: HELP ME misfire

your compression should not be that low in cyl's 3 and 4 you definately have some problems somewhere. try a wet test in those cylinders and see if that brings the compression up. (this is where you pour a cap full of oil into the cylinders and then do the test) if it does bring comp back up, you need new rings. this could be causing your low idle misfire. also, were there any o2 sensor codes?

Re: HELP ME misfire

i did the wet test and the compression on cyl 3 and 4 both went up to around 170psi. cly 1 and 2 stayed about the same. and while i continued to drive it i noticed dark smoke and oil dripping out the exhaust. i gues i'm deff. in need of some rings and might as well rebuild the head too.... how much should the average head job cost with stock parts? and where could i get a low cost bottom end rebuild kit?

thanks for the imput.... i took it off the road and i'm going nuts...

Re: HELP ME misfire

there was no codes for the O2 sensors i think thats weird considering all the oil in the exhaust.....

Re: HELP ME misfire

there isnt any "cheap" bottom end rebuild kits that are worth anything. if you are just wanting oem spec stuff. get the rings, hg, and whatever else you need from honda. i would try Majestic Honda as they are the cheapest that i know of.

or are you wanting to upgrade? if so, you will need to do alot of research to figure out what you want and how much you want to spend. the h22 can get pretty expensive when upgrading internals.
