what the crap

Alright heres the story, I at work for a few hours, from like 2-5, and I always park my car out front so I can see it when I am taking orders out to cars, I look at my car about every 10 minutes.

At 5 I got my 35 minute break, one of my friends was up at my work because he works there too, so we decide to head over to the gas station thats on the opposite corner of the intersection.

I walk to my car, unlock it, get in, and we go. We make it over there, I get out, lock my doors, go inside for less than 2 minutes to grab an energy drink, come back out, and my key won't go all the way in to either door lock, it will go in the trunk fine, but neither door lock.

Anyone know what the hell could cause this? Keep in mind its like 19 degrees here, but that shouldnt have anything to do with it because just like 5 minutes previous to that I got in fine.

Now I have to leave my car door unlocked tonight -_-
Makes me nervous as ****.

I got in through my trunk.

Re: what the crap

the only thing i have ever known to cause that is ice in the cylinder, debris in the cylinder, or a damaged key.

LMAO! That's probably one of the funniest things I've ever heard!

Lol, but to answer your question, it could definitely be ice in the cylinder. If it still doesn't work when you get home, take a hair dryer / heat gun and just blow that B**** and try it again. If that don't work, take it to a locksmith

Re: what the crap

a bottle of hot water will work too. when i was trying to sell my car, i was leaving it outside and parking the lude in the garage. so every morning i had to move it. one morning i couldn't get in. so i opened the trunk and went thru the back seat. wasn't funny cause i had an 18" custom made box to squeeze by.

Sadly, i only did the hot water when I was leaving my g/fs place one night. Good time to sell it though because now I don't have to deal with that, and my lude has keyless.

Keyless ftw. Get one of those lock de-icer things from the gas station, they are like $1.99, and they work really good.

Re: what the crap

I'm not sure since it's a 5G, but I know on a 4G you have to use a key from the inside to release the passenger rear seat.

Re: what the crap

^ there is a little strap that you pull that opens it from inside the trunk, the strap is right above the seat. on the 5g its probably right in the center above the seat

as for the lock, i also think it is frozen

Re: what the crap

yup frozen lock... mines done it twice this season. For some reason, only my drivers side freezes up.

Dont take a heat gun to it unless you want risk ruining your paint.

Ive never tried one of those lock de-icers but i'd imagine they work fine.

You are correct. When I was working on my LED lights in the trunk, I was like hey this must be the release strap for the trunk. So I closed it and while I was in there I pulled on it. I heard the thunk, but nothing happened. So I turned around and pushed the seat and was all TADA!. So then I had to pull the actual trunk release cable to unlatch the trunk.

Re: what the crap

I used hot water once. It thawed out the door enough so that I could open it but froze almost instantly. I stood outside in work clothes banging the door back and forth for awhile until I decided to use more hot water. This time, I threw hot water on the inner door and slammed the door shut. Good Idea I thinks :-) Well.....getting out again.......the door had froze with me in the car :-) Got out the passenger's side in work parking lot! What a great day that was...........lifting my legs up over the stick to get out......what a day......

i did, the key wont go in all the way on that side

im not stupid -_-

edit: i hate how people automatically assume everyone else is completely retarded and has no thought process what so ever.

de-icer worked on neither of the doors.
so if i want to keep my car locked this winter i get to crawl through the trunk every time unless we get a couple days of nice weather

its like 4 degrees outside right now

also my car doesnt have keyless entry because the guy before me put an aftermarket alarm on it, and put all the cables and box above the shift cables, well we had to replace the motor when i got the car and we got it from HMO and the nice people there give you shift cables so we replaced them, which required unhooking the alarm.

after unhooking the alarm it ****ed something up and now when you plug the alarm in with the battery hooked up it goes into permanent panic mode -_-

LoL dude it's because we are ALL completely retarded and make dumbsh!t mistakes occasionally. No one can deny that. ****, I spent $400 on replacing parts trying to fix my VTEC and one day I found a loose wire on my ECU while cleaning it 8 months later and pinned it back in for the fix. **** happens, wash your hands, then have a brew.

lol, dude, he said in the op that it won't go in either door lock. You forum types make me laugh. Always screaming at people to read and search, but you didn't read.

Anyway, considering its both locks, I'm thinking frozen locks, too. Kinda weird that 2/3 froze, but at least you got back in. I've never used the lock de-icers, but I imagine they would work.

Touché, in my defense, it showed a new post ahead of newer threads. Anyway, I feel stupid, now, which is probably a good thing for my ego =P

Re: what the crap

On a PC I think its hold although and 0245 on the keypad =). Btw, it's a tilde over the eñe, and accent over Tue e. Both are in the 0230-0249 range iirc.
