Will these be good headlights?

So i rear ended somebody the other day, but it wasn't bad i was only going like 5 mph. It messed up my lights, and my hood. My insurance is covering everything to fix it, so im taking advantage of it.
There letting me pick the lights so i ordered these:
http://www.k2motor.com/3lhppl97jmbks.html.

I was wondering if they will be bright like HIDS or projector retrofits are, they are supposedly "projector headlights". Im sure theyll fit too, even if they don't, the guy at the shop said he will make them fit "professionaly" without jimmy riggin em.

Also wondering if these taillights are any good too, this site looks very legit. http://www.k2motor.com/lt-pl97jm-yd.html

If "Good" means they'll work, fit, and light the road up for you, then yes, they're "Good."

As for the tail lights....eww. IMO

Re: Will these be good headlights?

95% of the time with non-retrofitted projectors (cheap projector knockoffs), they will work just fine, but have hot spots and glare all over. Its rare to find an ebay-like set of projectors with good/precise light output. I had a set on my accord and the lighting was worse than stock.

Putting HID's in there is possible and will help your light output, but at the same time increases your glare spots.

This can be visually represented by pulling up about 15-20 feet from a white wall (garage door) and turning your lights on... there will most likely be spots all over the wall above the cutoff as opposed to a retrofitted projector with a perfect cutoff and no glare.

But keeping things on a budget, I would say they are "good" or "slightly better than average"

The cold cathode halos are pretty cool. I guy down the street has them in his M3 and they are way brighter than the LED style. Even mid-day they are visible.

As for the tails.... I would suggest staying away from them... They will instantly make your car look cheaper. When I bought my prelude, it came with the exact same ones except chrome and I cant stand them. But its all personal preference.

That was all a little disorganized but hope it helps

Re: Will these be good headlights?

you should have gotten depo's for the headlights.

and thats a no on the tail lights, as you will find that there arent too many people that care for aftermarket tails. just stick with the oem's way cleaner than anything else.

IMO, stick with the OEM tails, and if you don't like them, smoke em' out.

Re: Will these be good headlights?

plenty of people on here have aftermarket headlights.

if you wanted a set of projectors on the cheapside...depo is a real good reputable comapny, you may not like the design but..i heard the cut off was really good especially for the price

Re: Will these be good headlights?

those tail lights are a huge NO IMO

if you want to pocket some loot just have them give you the money for some OEM tails and buy the set that i have. or follow my easy instruction and clear the amber out of your tails. it's such a clean look:

Re: Will these be good headlights?

Headlights should be okay, be careful with aftermarket projectors, I have some on my 4th gen and they have distorted light output, and uneven... OEMs are brighter.
Yes, get HIDs, it will help the light output with projectors a lot..

oh, stay away from those tails, don't cheap out your prelude, its not a Hyundai : D

Re: Will these be good headlights?

Why even ask if you've already paid?

There's a reason nobody buys those and they spend the extra money for retros. You get what you pay for. If you needed headlights, you'd be better off finding used OEM's or Depo OEM replacements.

Contrary to popular believe, a Prelude is not a Civic, even if they are both Hondas. Stay away from the tail lights.

Re: Will these be good headlights?

E is 100% correct. Those taillights are horrendous. And you may actually get worse lighting with those headlights than you would with OEM headlights.

You do get what you pay for and these headlights are awesome. Youd think everyone would know about the notorious "search" function in forums. I know for a fact that there are 2 threads specifically on these headlights. check it out

i gurantee that if he would have spent the extra money to get a set of retros that he would be way happier than he ever would with those headlights.

i need to switch to that insurance that allowances you $500+ for new headlights with no questions asked. Plus it doesnt matter since he already got them, i was just letting him know those are a good choice.

Re: Will these be good headlights?

another reason you should do your research before buying. I have no idea why he would go for the aftermarket projectors when there is a $600+ spending limit. should have been a no brainer . . .

exactly, if the kid was smart he could have got the headlight quote from honda, got the 600 bucks and then buy some retros.

Re: Will these be good headlights?

The Depo replacements are under $300, and unless you read the label, you can't tell the difference.

dbd is actually right. More often than not, aftermarket projector lights put out worse lighting than stock, to the point where they basically cast shadows.

Re: Will these be good headlights?

ok ok, i have these EXACT headlights on my lude and i love them. they come with bulbs, which are NOT the same as the oem bulbs, but they are nothing special, and they look fantastic. the light cut off is great and there are no spots above the cut off (kind of annoying when trying to look for street signs) the halos are very bright. ive gotten a lot of compliments on them. even had a couple people ask if they were HID's. if you wanna see what they look like on a silver lude look at my members ride page
:::CavScoutRyno::: 2001 base
the only thing i will say is that when i got mine they were way off on the adjustment so be prepared to align them properly. oh and i dont know if mine needed it, but i went ahead and took some clear sealant around the seams of the glass. just a precaution.

I actually didn't have $500 to spend or i would of got retros. I had $270 to spend and those seemed to be the best i could find for that price. It was either those, or 280$ for some stock ones again.

Just FYI, was looking for 4G lights on that site, and they have them, look like decent quality. They are on sale for $130 right now which sounds like a pretty good deal. Anyone have the 4G version of these?
