Skunk2 intake manifold for SH??

Hey, looking into getting a OBDI conversion kit for my 99 sh. I want to set up the skunk2 intake manifold, throtle body, fuel rail. It says on the web site that the manifold is not compatible with the SH model. If I convert to OBDI will I be ok. Or does this have to do with the EGR or whatever its called. Some help would be really appreciated.
Thanks!

Re: Skunk2 intake manifold for SH??

Firstly, why do you want this part?
What size throttle body do you want?
Unless you're making MAD horsepower, the stock fuel rail is fine, so there's $150 staying in your pocket.

Re: Skunk2 intake manifold for SH??

I want to get it set up to be boosted. Get all this out of the way fisrt. Im going to have to enventually upgrade the fuel delivery system. So I was wondering what I need to do ECU wise. I dont know why the SH isnt compatible with the intake manifold. Any thoughts??

Re: Skunk2 intake manifold for SH??

The fact that it has a strut bar and the Type S/Base doesn't is my guess as to why it's not compatible. Like E said, there's no need to upgrade your fuel rail unless you're shooting to make a LOT of horsepower, but you said you want to boost so go for it. As far as the Intake Manifold, they SUCK on N/A H22's, but they are pretty good for boost applications. I would wait until you actually have the motor ready to be built to put it on, otherwise you will hurt performance if you just throw it on beforehand. And you don't want to go too big on your throttle body. Why? Basically, it's like trying to drink pop through a straw that's WAY too big, it makes it more difficult...thus, it makes it more difficult for air to flow into your motor, and can actually hurt performance.

Re: Skunk2 intake manifold for SH??

Essentially if you go to the S2 IM you'll need a tune, which is rather hard with an SH. If you want to keep ATTS that is. If you're not worried about losing ATTS then you can do what you like.

Colin I just noticed this...is there a dent in your passenger door or is it a glare in the picture?

Re: Skunk2 intake manifold for SH??

So if you remove ATTS you'll have no problem putting the S2 IM on?
