How cheap are we talking about because your 5 sp swap you want to do plus buying that car you can find a nice 97 5 sp for that same price I bet.

it cranks up but dies(i know is the ignition immoblizer) but how do i get around it(new ecu??)

plus you are going to have to fix this, I suggest let this one go and find one you want

another thing it has a h22a4 swap with auto tranny.. im goin to put a 5 speed...

The 97 came w/ a H22A4, I guess you mean he had to replace the the motor

another thing i have a h23 engine on the side with a 5 spd on it WILL it fit on the h22a4

I have no idea on this one your going to have to let the 4th Gen's answer this one for you

This one I wouldn't I would get a CRX way better lighter and easier to find parts and engine swap support

Re: 97 prelude

800 dallars cheap. the car is in good condition.

i dont know what motor is came with.. but it has a h22 now...im pretty decent with machanics and im a electrian by trade(so its not like im goin to pay some on to build this car)... i just dont much about honda... i use to have a srt 4 mid 12 sec street driven daily(mostly stock i tuned and tweaked it ) i traded for a cummins 2500 4 door and i just wanted a car to build(which im goin to be doing 90 % of the work on it... (not that this means anything but all my 3 or the cars and truck i have i are black)

the rims on the car are worth like 800... i think im goin to make out on the deal...

Re: 97 prelude

Well if the rims are that much sell em and go back with stocks as they would be better for track car if that is what you are going to do. I am a mechanical tech myself, I bought this car as when I was in the military at the time in 1997 I wanted this car so bad but could not afford it @ $26,000. But seriously I wouldn't have bought it if I wanted a track car meaning a 1/8 or 1/4 mile car. Now road course h@ll yeah I'd be down for that. But I have thought about doing a little drag car but I think that I am going to look for a CRX or a Civic hatch. Something I'm not too worried about blowing up.

Yeah $800 is pretty cheap I'd sell the rims right off to help finance some of the things you are wanting to do with it, nice find I'd buy that just for a parts car.

Re: 97 prelude

do you know how much money you will have to pour into it to make it an all motor drag car?? u have your priorities mixed up, i think. the h22 doesnt react to upgrades as nice as b series do. plus there are other complications but do as you please.

Re: 97 prelude

You'd be better off selling them then, anything bigger than 16" rims just hurts performance. Just throw some sticky tires on the stock rims (which look damn good IMO), or go get yourself some TE37's.

Re: 97 prelude

And yes, the H22 is pretty good. Probably not as popular as the B or K series, but it seems to have a cult-like following. I'm personally a big fan of it.

The civic hatch is also a VERY light car. The Prelude is not. Adding nitrous on top of it, yeah, it was probably fast haha.

Re: 97 prelude

I don't really know, I don't have much experience when it comes to drag racing or even the B-series. All I can tell you is that if you want to go turbo, a B-series will probably be easier. The H22 has FRM cylinder sleeves (fiber reinforced metal), so you can't run forged pistons in them unless you get them resleeved with iron ductile sleeves or something of that sort. And H22's don't exactly react as well to upgrades as other engines do. They were put together VERY well by Honda, so it's hard to improve upon them unless you have a lot of money.

thats what i was talking bout with the complications along with frm sleeves. plus its hard to pull alot of hp outta a N/A motor without doing alot of custom work. im sure ogs or blake will chime in at some point in time. anyways the prelude really isnt a great platform for drag racing, its more of a really good handling car. the prelude is one of the heaviest two door cars honda has made.
