16" S2000 Rims on prelude

Will I have problems putting 16" S2000 rims on my prelude?
They are the same bolt pattern, but the rear rims are a little bigger.
If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: 16" S2000 Rims on prelude

staggered were meant for rear wheel drive cars but I remember there was a thread sumwhere where getting staggered s2k rims hurt the handling of the ludes. I cant find it thought but thats what I heard, its best to get all 4 fronts.

I was told by an uncertified mech (otherwise know as a know it all) that you can't put RWD rims on a FWD and vice versa. He did however work at discount tire, is he talking out his @$$ or what?

if there staggered, than there can be a problem, if there all the same, why not?

If he meant offset-wise the yes. Most rwd cars have wheels with offsets of 35 or lower. Very few fwd cars can have wheels with that low an offset. The lowest I've ever seen is 38 on a Prelude, and it was lowered so much that the car looked broken.

Re: 16" S2000 Rims on prelude

I have seen a FEW 35 offsets, but that's pushing it, plus you would really need to stretch your tires.

this is a 4th but you get the picture.

Re: 16" S2000 Rims on prelude

i see no reason why staggered wouldn't work on our cars but i can see some potential problems. the offset should be fine if it's the s2000 ap1 rims because it's been done many times by many people. all 4 front or all 4 rear is ideal just because they aren't staggered because if you put the wider wheels on the rear, it has the potential to increase understeer and if you put the wider wheels in front, it has potential tol reduce understeer. so if you get a staggered set, it's potentially better to put the wider ones on front. potential is keyword in whatever i said.

Re: 16" S2000 Rims on prelude

I got the rims today and put them on my car. I put the wider ones up front (WITH SPACERS). I tried without the spacers but when I turned, I could hear something knocking. The wider tires wouldn't clear on the rear of my prelude for some reason. The tires are 235, but I was told that 215 will fit on them. Other than adding spacers up front, they fit very well, and look great too.
